I use contralube on mine - meant to be good for staving off corrosion.

Anyone had an interesting ride recently ?

Here's a couple from the last week, Funkylyn ... it really is a shame not to pop a lock on your bike and linger awhile tho - makes sense to shove life's essentials on your rack ..... sea's really warmed up these last couple of weeks.

DIY electric bike on The Gadget Show

Did it get an outing up Park St ?

    Lightweight booster help please!

I'd be interested to see how correct your assumptions that rated power necessarily converts so readily to bike speed turn out to be. If 18-25mph is the target cruising speed range, I'd be cautious of assuming that's easily achievable over long distances from a lightweight kit unless you also...

Bristol Electric Bike Festival - Car Parking

Hope everyone going along later today has a great time and enjoys the event.... and good luck to race entrants ... if I were a betting man I'd put money on some outrageous mods having been lined up to chase pole position. I wonder how many motors can you get to work simultaneously on an eBike !!

    Impulse & Panasonic Tuning Dongles!!

Good thought. However, since "off road" is invariably as illegal as on road (bar a private farm track where going >15mph is likely more a concept than a reality) the only circumstances where legal reversion would probably be sought by most dongle owners would be when flogging on their bike ! If...

    Impulse & Panasonic Tuning Dongles!!

I think it would be less in practice on a 26" wheel bike but in principle it would probably be up to about this or thereabouts. As with all these things, subject to the bike having high enough top end gearing to deliver the additional speeds especially as gradients increase. 1) I think you'd...

    Impulse & Panasonic Tuning Dongles!!

Question for you Martin - the Impulse LCDs (so far as I'm aware) have a wheel size setting which records mileage and speed independently of the wheel size parameters which drive the motor assist cutoff parameters. Therefore, accurate speed and mileage readings can be obtained on the LCD...

!!!!! HELP me with my 26" Bafang Rear Wheel Build please !!!!!

I think that link above is for these XL Beavertail ones : SKS Beavertail Mudguard XL Set | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com I actually fitted the regular ones which work OK on my bike with 2.1 tyres but the clearance is very tight so if above have been tested on the Kraken then they'd be...

Two years inside for supplying non UN38.3 batteries

That should exempt all but heavy LiFePO4 batteries then, surely ? Even a 20Ah Li-Ion battery weighs quite a bit less than that.

    Another left turn accident

Really sorry to hear you've been knocked off your bike Kirstin :(. Hope nothing serious and you're fighting fit again soon.

!!!!! HELP me with my 26" Bafang Rear Wheel Build please !!!!!

You won't regret it and glad you've got the build back on track :). I don't actually understand how it works or why the MOSFETs are used but really makes sense not to be unplugging controller from battery every time you put the bike away and sparking it every time you reconnect. Re: the gauge...

    e-cigarettes

With regard to the rights to clean air, until farting at work is made a disciplinary offence I don't see how eCigs can have fingers pointed at them. I've a whole host of new countries on my "no travel list". Since I couldn't be bothered to go to Olympic Games related events in my own country...

Selling Electric Bikes on The Apprentice

There seemed to be a widespread presumption displayed by the passers-by touted in that Apprentice episode that an electric bike meant you wouldn't be pedaling so the perception was that it was basically a throttle-controlled moped to sit on and be propelled along. None of the "sales people"...

    e-cigarettes

I also seem to remember glycerine, when mixed with honey & lemon, was a traditional product for soothing the effects of colds and coughs. So glycerine vapour's unlikely to be anything negative in the environment - probably the opposite in fact. Perhaps we should all wear Michael Jackson face...
