BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion and long distance commuting

If you are thinking of one of those, consider swing. A lot of them move from side to side when loaded.

    Have I missed anything?

Spot on. The Juicy is no ball of fire, so from her account of the test ride, Lancslass is a stronger cyclist than she gives herself credit for. Thus any modern ebike should do the job for her.

Have I done the right thing? pimped my ride

Predictable response, but you are mistaken if you think the likes of Rosberg regard having to do publicity shots like that as anything other than a chore. The type of bike is irrelevant, I would say just the same if they were made to pose on one of my bikes.

Have I done the right thing? pimped my ride

Not half as stupid as those two feel having to pose on the bike.

    Have I missed anything?

The GreenEdge is a good bike for the money, d8veh, late of this parish, rated it which is good recommendation. Don't take the quoted weight too seriously. It won't be significantly lighter than the other bikes you are looking at.

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

I agree with Flecc. Lots of cyclists say losing a kilo of bodyweight has the same effect - and is cheaper - than shaving a kilo off the bike. But it is far from the same, a lighter bike by a kilo or two is much easier to pedal than a heavier bike with a lighter rider. Having said that...

    Smart ebike out of production?

I like crank drive bikes, and a short test ride on the Yamaha suggested to me the system is very similar to the Bosch one - in t'other words, very good. Some people reckon the power delivery of the Bosch is a bit smoother, but I didn't detect that. The bike in your link will require some...

Sad News...80 year old pedelecer killed.

The links refers to a Durham in America. In Durham City, UK, there has been one death - the ebiker - and two serious injury accidents in the last few days.

Having a Brompton converted to Ebike

You could probably do a cheaper job buying the bits piecemeal, but the battery in the front bag connected by the luggage block is very neat. The fold is the same, although you will notice the extra weight of the motor and controller. The bag with the battery in is a few kilos, depending on the...

Having a Brompton converted to Ebike

I had a Brompton Nano which was expensive, but very neat. http://www.nanoelectricbikes.co.uk/

Replacement Smart eBike batteries by BionX,

Didn't Banbury Frank/Xipi go the journey at about the same time? Pity, he would have had some good discussions with KTM Col about derestricted bikes. http://xipi.co.uk/

There were two or three cyber executions on here a while back - including a trade member. But happily, this forum doesn't routinely need a lot of moderating.

    Smart ebike out of production?

My yacht went faster than that when I went to Monaco recently to see my mate Lewis. I was in a hurry because he'd just crashed that £1.6m Zonda car. Last time I lend him anything.

Why are folders no good for communting?

Folders are not as comfortable as 'big wheel' bikes, although those on 20" balloon tyres come close. Commuting is hard on the bike, not just the miles day in, day out, but the stopping and starting means accelerated wear on brakes, tyres and drivetrain. The bike will usually be loaded with...

Thoughts please on Cube Suv Hybrid Pro 500 27.5 2016

The extra money is for the hub gears. The bikes are aimed at slightly different uses, the hub bike is more for road and well made paths. It's mostly in the tyres, which can always be changed. But given you have a choice, there's no point in buying a mountain bike if you are never going to use...

Thoughts please on Cube Suv Hybrid Pro 500 27.5 2016

Highest assist may also be reduced for the same reason. My Rose - old classic motor and Alfine 11 - is set to maximum 200% in Bosch speak. The same motor in a derailleur bike will give 250%. That applies to turbo. I have bikes with both set ups and there is a noticeable difference. No...

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

I'm surprised. Bosch bikes - which I regard as broadly similar to Kalkhoff's Impulse - are no bother at all at low speeds. Slow progress is smoothest at the two lower assist levels.

Will the end of full speed throttles in January 2016 cause a rush to buy.

Makes senses to me, and it also accords with what the manager of my local bike shop told me. They've sold more ebikes this year than ever before, but overall sales are down. Halfords' sales have also dropped. I've always thought the so called boom in cycling was more real than imagined...

    Smart ebike out of production?

The Bosch drive Captus and Motus are nice bikes. The older design hub drive Raleigh bikes are not so clever - better available from the likes of woosh, Kudos, Cyclezee and probably a few others.
