    GNG Crank-drive kit

hey d8vey, without meaning to dampen the excitement of your discovery mebe you should point out that these are all just electric motors with cogs and sprockets, german or chinese, which can only give out what they take in from generally rather expensive lithium battery packs.

    GNG Crank-drive kit

well done d8vey, I'm glad someone has the time, money and ingenuity to explore these possibilities and then the public spirit to explain them. It would be good if vhfman could do the same regarding his experiments with the nuvinci drive which may also be a revelation for future ebike designers.

    Fat Frank Tyres

Am sorry to interupt this intellectual debate but there are numerous things I do not understand: 1/ Scimitar, why do fat tyres make pedaling easier? 2/TylerD are you by any chance the very same of Endless Sphere? 3/OldDave, E= mcc + or - 1/4", what ? 4/YoungDave, "backside hassle", I'm...

Cwah you are such a dick. This is exactly what everyone warned you about and what you promised not to do. Did you think you wernt attracting enough attention with your flashing lights and ridiculous umbrella. The cops will come and get you and after that they will look for others. Your looking...

What is the point to these?

What is the point to these? "They have lights, stop lights, indicators, horn, suspension front and rear, brake switch cut outs to make motor stop incase of any failure of throttle, battery charger. It has a steering lock." Even eddios fancy pants bike doesn't have all that! It probably runs...

    Hi from SW Scotland

Hi Dave and welcome to the collection of genius we call the pedelecs forum. Interested to hear more of your crank drive kit, an interesting departure from the norm. If you are short of funds I might have an old lithium 36v battery going cheapishly, might be better option than sla for a folder.

    Bighit battery querie

Hi adifrank. In my experience the Bighit uses about 10watt/hours per mile which is pretty good I think. So the battery is usually good for 35 miles at full assist but that depends on whether you are grossly obese or riding up the Matterhorn at the time. The wiring loom and connecters are of poor...

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

Well the answer to that is because there is an ever increasing demand for them and that environmentally electric mopeds are preferable to petrol driven ones. Electric vehicles are becoming an increasingly relevant factor in the transport equation for the future, especially so for the urban...

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

Am sorry but cannot resist the urge to throw in my tuppence worth in a good old tonaro mud slinging match. The controller is rated at 7amps with a max of 15amp. It is rated so presumeably to ensure certification as a 250watt machine. However on a hill the wattmeter reads well over 600 watts ie...

90% of my ebike issue come from the wires

.I would also recommend the use of a true eutectic solder or one that has a 2% silver content. The silver wets the joint better and minimizes the length of time the solder is in the paste like state (eutectic) I have found soldering to be quite a frustrating process especially with large...

    What e-bike for the Highlands?

If the lady who posted the thread can make her way down to the lush plains of Appin, we have a couple of Tonaros here she could try out.

    What e-bike for the Highlands?

I'm sure you're right flecc, but shouldn't the magazine be out there actively seeking new ebikes to review in the interests of their readers, regardless of the retailers concerns?

    What e-bike for the Highlands?

It is good to see the Tonaro finally getting some recognition from members that dont actually own them. The Tonaro predates the Bosch drive, is half the price, has a sensible battery and a throttle option. One day I hope to go up Ben Nevis on it. Oddly I dont think any electric bike mag has yet...

    Something for the future "maybe"

Yup, this kind of drive is becoming popular for fast, powerful bikes on the endless-sphere site, but is probably of little use to power limited pedelec riders for which the hub motor works so well. Shame the author didn't include any pics or schematics.
