    Anyone got a Tasman Impulse 8 ?

Ah, confusion on an internet forum, who'd have thought it? I will give you a ring. I've noted the number, so probably best if you delete it from the post.

    Anyone got a Tasman Impulse 8 ?

Today is a possibility. I'm not sure what you mean about a car.

    Anyone got a Tasman Impulse 8 ?

About an hour in the car, so doable. I could combine you with a visit I want to make in Harrogate.

    Anyone got a Tasman Impulse 8 ?

I'm not so far away in my static caravan in North Yorkshire so I could give your bike the once over.

    Anyone got a Tasman Impulse 8 ?

Obvious question - where are you? I'm sure if one us were near or by, we could tell you if your current bike is performing as it should.

new prices for the new Bosch batteries

The dongle only removes the speed restriction. Mounted on the speed sensor, it cannot do anything else. If you hammer around flat out in turbo - dongle or not - battery longevity will be reduced. Most of my riding is in tour. I have yet to notice any drop in battery capacity in any of my...

    Brose

The Rotwild/Brose bikes can only be charged with the battery fixed to the bike. I don't know if all Brose installations are the same, but not being able to remove the battery to charge it is a big limiting factor.

Probably sick of these by now? Which bike...

The vid looks convincing, but so were my test rides - to me. Could it be that some hub motors acquire some resistance due to general wear and tear? Trex appears to suggest so upthread. Either way, it's fair to tell the OP cycling an ebike unpowered is harder than an ordinary bike, even if...

Probably sick of these by now? Which bike...

There was a small amount of drag from the motor on my Brompton Nano. I've also noticed it on some of the hub bikes I've tried, albeit only briefly. Drag from a hub motor is a simple matter of fact. No amount of posting/derision from you will change that.

Pedestrian filmed pushing cyclist off her bike

My simple point is that if you tick off a stranger, you cannot be certain how they will react. At that point, the rights and wrongs are irrelevant. There is a lot to think about, particularly in the heat of the moment. But one of the things to assess is: "If this person turns nasty, can I...

Or if you do want to upbraid another road user, be prepared to accept, or rather deal with, the possible consequences.

Probably sick of these by now? Which bike...

Like riding a Boris bike is a good analogy. Riding an ebike unpowered, particularly a hub motor one where there is always some drag, is like riding a very heavy bike. But why would you want to ride an ebike unpowered? It's possible to avoid having to do so by planning your journeys and making...

Probably sick of these by now? Which bike...

There is a small amount of resistance from any hub motor. Taking the battery off would reduce the weight, but there's still the weight of the motor, wiring and possibly a controller - if it's not in the battery. Pedalling such a bike unpowered would be a bit like riding through treacle...

Bike got soaked and went a bit funny...

I was in my static caravan in North Yorkshire at the same time as the OP. They do rain very well here, but it was as heavy as I've seen it. The bike's done well if the only damage is a soggy display.

Torque and Rotation (Cadence) Sensing - Clarification Question

My experience is the same as John's. The OP is already push-biking and says he wants to maintain some fitness. He says he is content to change down for hills, and is not after outright speed. If ever there was an ideal candidate for a torque sensor bike, it is the OP.

Torque and Rotation (Cadence) Sensing - Clarification Question

Terry, From your posts you want a torque sensor crank drive bike. You don't mention budget, but a Raleigh Motus at about £2K might suit. It's more widely available than many ebikes, so you might be able to track one down for a test ride. I tried one and liked it, a mate has just bought one...

    New Scott E sub speed

I reckon my dongled Bosch bike - similar size battery/similar motor system - would just about do it, so you have a good chance with a Steps bike. As said, you would need to use one of the lower assistance levels, or charge both ends.

    New Scott E sub speed

The assist on all legal Bosch bikes stops at 15.5mph. There is no extra resistance from the crank drive motor, but above that speed you will be pedalling a 20kg+ bike on your own.

    shouldo i be worried?

Very likely, particularly accelerating hard in turbo which means the teeth of the sprocket are harder against the rollers of the chain, making it harder for the chain to release from the sprocket. There's also less time for that to happen than when accelerating gently. I've ridden with - not...
