Those were my original thoughts, Dave, and been looking into it. Trouble is the CA display is just too big to be permanently mounted on the bike. I haven't got space on the handlebars for my phone mount if I get CA (Galaxy S3 is huge and has to go where the CA display would go ... and I need to...

FINALLY ... got my ducks in a row ... rigged up the torque arm and checked final setup as it will be on finished bike. Bolt is exactly the right size. so ..... bike upside down, throttle connected to controller, battery connected to controller and controller to motor with Hall Sensor pins...

Thanks d8veh. I think I'm ready to test the motor at least on the upturned dropouts of the bike (I guess this is how you do it if the wheel has no tyres yet ?). Just to be absolutely sure, am I good to go testing the motor with the Hall sensor pins popped in that connector and not touching...

Just for my general education, what exactly is a "shunt" and where is it found on a PCB ?
