Smog and breathing issues - what protection to use?

Good to get your feedback on how it looks, Flecc. I think I need to find one that has a balance of protection and monstrous appearance!

Smog and breathing issues - what protection to use?

I am aren't I, proper scary! No I don't think it's pollen. The opinion of my GP is that it is the particulates from the diesel fumes, rather than pollen. The antihistamines have suppressed my immune response to pollens and I'm not getting any hayfever symptoms (severe asthma aside). But even...

Smog and breathing issues - what protection to use?

Hey all, My Bafang CST HT kit is a monster and munches the miles - but unfortunately after the two pretty alright journeys I've done on it (both from sunny Hertfordshire to central London) I've developed breathing problems and can't really breathe properly, talk, or sleep without using an...

    Legality of power ratings

I defer to you in all matters to do with engineering but everything you've said just doesn't hold, without reference to the precise wording of the legislation. All I'm getting on this page is hearsay. If you're right that rated, continuous, and output are the words used, then you're correct...

    Legality of power ratings

Some law, which is so universally flouted! :) I think the real thing to have a look at is the new directive, as if the UK legislation doesn't implement it properly then the offending section of the latter can be set aside just like that, shazam. Edit - I think this is the case anyway.

Right but that continuous rating is a minimum, not a maximum, or?

    Wanted - 36v, 3.5a - 4a charger

They seem to have gone up from £30 to £33.99 at eclipse (although I might have misremembered that) http://www.eclipsebikes.com/lifepo4-battery-charger-p-1037.html and BMS works out at £31. Edit- it's £39 after delivery from eclipse. Oh well.

    Wanted - 36v, 3.5a - 4a charger

It's a li-ion. Quite right £30 is the new price, so I thought £15 might be fair to offer for used :) Edit - now offering £20.

    Legality of power ratings

You're quite right meman -people do confuse the two: our only legal duty, to my knowledge, is to use in public spaces, only those motors rated at 250w or lower by the manufacturer. This means simply that the manufacturer has to declare it capable of 250w or less (their duty is to not overstate...

Two-lane roads and junctions with left turns - how to stay safe?

Excellent, I thought as much. But wasn't sure you know. When you're being tooted and shouted at by professional drivers who tell you to stop obstructing them by cycling in the correct lane, you really doubt whether you're choosing the right course. I feel reassured.

Two-lane roads and junctions with left turns - how to stay safe?

Thanks for your comments, some good thoughts there. That sounds a good idea for where both lanes are for ahead as well as left. But if the left lane is for turning left only, and I want to go forward, then being in the left lane a meter from the kerb, seems like a real problem because at some...

Two-lane roads and junctions with left turns - how to stay safe?

Thanks. Do you mean the scenario where I got swiped with two straight ahead lanes, or where I got honked with one straight ahead and one turn left? Where in the left lane do you think it's good to be? Unfortunately the person only indicated as he was passing me. I have a mirror - the most...

Two-lane roads and junctions with left turns - how to stay safe?

Thanks. Some valuable thoughts there. Do you mean the advice for the two lane roads with a left-turn only lane, or the other sort, i.e. with a straight-ahead or left turn option in the left lane?

Two-lane roads and junctions with left turns - how to stay safe?

An unnerving thing happened yesterday and I'm still quite shaken. Someone not-quite-overtook me at a junction, braked, and turned left across me, on a two-lane road, forcing me to come to a halt or be knocked off my bike. They pretty much turned 'into' me. It was frightening and upsetting...

    Am i being unreasonable

D8veh that was a good post you made and I agree with most of it but I just wanted to clarify a couple of things. Yes you're right it would be ridiculous, and you put it well. However it was the store rather than the buyer who insisted that taking the bike back was the only thing that could be...

    Am i being unreasonable

No you're not being unreasonable. It is up to the seller what price he wants to sell his goods at, as long as you weren't 'snapping up' an obviously mistakenly priced thing, then the specced goods are what he objectively sold and owes you. That's the rule -if you think it's too harsh on him then...
