    Stroud (Glos) Hills

Welcome Julian. My wife has a Big Bear step through. We live in west Wales so lots of hills. I can confirm that it's hill climbing torque is prodigious and battery life is good. So far 41 miles on one charge.

    BBC stirs trouble for cyclists

Undoubtedly the guy in the video is in the wrong, especially the speed he was doing. Still I suppose the high viz jacket makes him in-vulnerable! However, I listened to the program and thought that, despite the presenters attempts to whip it up, most of the responses were quite measured. The...

    Wisper works 905Se

Thanks D8veh, I tried them myself earlier and thought they lacked the grunt of my ezee.

    Wisper works 905Se

Some friends of mine have been offered a pair of the above bikes. They are 2009, hardly used but unsure of battery storage regime. Look in very good condition. From a test ride they are saying that they seem to be underpowered compared to a test of a new Giant stepthrough. What can be...

Best Ebike mileage.....on ONE battery charge

Ah yes, the Redditch road system. It's a doozey, my wives parents have lived there all her life and we still get lost. Living in west Wales now and the most I've got so far is 32 miles on my Ezee kit conversion with 14Ah with about 50% used. Plenty battery left but no knees!

Some advice from you experts please!

. Can the throttle be used (on its lowest setting?) to propel the bike while you are pushing it? As the bikes are quite heavy and some days I struggle just to get me up the hill, never mind a bike as well! The Big Bear has a walk assist setting. You just keep a button pressed as you walk...

How good is the Big Bear on hills?

Though I am a rapidly ageing old git, I still want to put in some effort . If what's wanted is engine only climbing ability then I think a motor bike is the answer. Both the Big Bear and ezee Mk2 are very able at doing their job, ASSISTING. That's why they're called EAPC's. Safetyfast: In...

How good is the Big Bear on hills?

To answer the original question: We live in hilly West Wales. My wife's Big Bear LS climbs ALL the hills around here, where her previous Giant Esprit would have her off and walking. She is around 65Kg, slightly less in years and no athlete. Battery range is good, we haven't managed to run it...

    Which is the best Bosch/Yamaha/Shimano

Hi Foxtrot, I'm in Ceredigion, lots of hills round 'ere. I have a hybrid 700c with an Ezee front wheel hub conversion on it, and the wife's got a big bear LS. The hill climbing is awesome on both, though mine is unsprung and that's getting a bit jarry. You're welcome to come and try that and...

    Giant Twist Esprit for sale

Thanks Flecc. I've never managed to find the exact model in searches, the one that most often comes up is the one with two batteries, which has the suffix 'Twin'. It's a bit like trying to find out exactly which starter motor is on your particular Ford Transit. So many model variations.

    Giant Twist Esprit for sale

I've now put the bike on Gumtree, hoping the nice weather will tempt a buyer. I've never been able to fathom E-bay and, frankly, some of the stories on this forum have made me think there's too much rip off potential. Is the price right? I worked it thinking this bike is around £1500 new.

    General e-bike function questions

My wife has a Big Bear and we live in Wales, so steep hills and slick lanes are common. That said she is not having the problems you are and she is no expert cyclist. She rides on level 2 or 3 with quite a slow cadence, coming into lower gears to get up hills. She has used level 5 to get up...

First electric bike, few to compare up to £2000

My only concern is that I was going to put panniers on the back but don't what this to cause the front to slip more. We'll see. Been looking for panniers for my wifes Big Bear. The battery is very close to the rack bar and my Axioms won't fit. There's not enough clearance between rack and...
