Pedelec for touring and day rides

Hi Graham, I ride a front hub conversion, it's an Ezee on a Carrera. You're right, there are some handling issues to get used to with a front drive. I live in Wales and manage to find some burn ya legs off climbs on the back lanes. On loose surface or muddy (read cow sh*t) surface, things can...

Strange problem: power through one pedal only

Did you, by any chance, break the left side of your pelvis? The spec on the Cyclotricity site doesn't say but I'm guessing the bike is a torque sense. In which case, if you can't bear down on the left side as much as the right, the motor won't respond as much. Shooting in the dark here.

Photos of your bike / conversion

I first converted a unisex steel frame with an Ezee kit. It started out like this: And ended up like this: Used it for about a year but found my wrists were taking a bashing. So I bought one of these: http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/hybrid-bikes/carrera-crossfire-3-hybrid-bike Mainly...

do members use there ebikes much at this time of year not work related

AT LAST the sun's shining and I'm about to go out for the third time in three days. However did come back from yesterdays ride smelling vaguely of cow sh*t, the lanes are a mess. The bikes been washed and fragranced with Muckoff and me waterproofs have been washed and proofed. Go out and do...

    e bike workstand

I have the same one as Soundwave, but I bought it from Halfords. Used it to convert my Carrera. Can confirm it will take the weight (minus battery) so long as you have the balance point. Legs splay very wide so won't tip. However have tried to use it with the wive's Big Bear low step but...

Funny how the 'cheat' comment seems to come most often from those who've just arrived by car!

    Ever been told you're cheating?

Too many times to count. The last time was when, having cycled 8 miles, the guy using the C word was younger than me and had arrived in his BMW having driven 3/4 mile. He shut up when I asked, 'And you got here how?'.

    Well All New To Me...

Hi Karl, Welcome. If this is the bike http://www.oxygenbicycles.com/e-bikes/e-mate-cb then it looks well equiped already, although some extra lights never go amiss. 12-14 miles is going some if you've not cycled before, give yourself plenty of time and you'll soon see it as a breeze. Might...

Hub motor axle does not go into droupouts

I can confirm that the Cyclezee torque arms work well and are very adaptable. In fact the bike with the red forks, in the link above, is my original conversion. How about that? Fame at last:D

    Which conversion kit?

I'd say so. Gear changes have to be managed carefully, on the mid drive, to avoid 'orrible crunching noises.

    Which conversion kit?

I have an Ezee front wheel conversion and can confirm that things get 'interesting' on loose or shiny surfaces. Bags of hill climbing power though. Have a look at Whoosh and Cyclezee. When you've done the conversion I bet it won't be long before you do your own, 'cos you'll be getting left...

    Muddyfox Anarchy 500 - reviews?

I also think the 18" frame may be too small for you. I'm 5'5" with 30" inside leg and I ride an 18" frame. Really I think you'll need a 20 or 22". They give height/inside leg measures on the bike spec.

    new belfast ebiker

Hi Paul, welcome. The front changer should have a pair of limit screws. One to stop it going too far to the outside, the other to stop it going too far to the inside. I'm guessing that the spring bias on the derailier moves it to the smaller rings (inside). Adjust this screw so that the...

    Hello from North Manchester

Hi Pete, 300wh isn't very big. Range depends on so many things, weight, terrain, wind, temperature, assisst used. Haven't ridden one of these but I'm thinking 16 miles could be about right at this time of year. Hope you haven't been taken in by the manufacturers range claims? They can be a...

    Hello from Kingston

Do you really need full suspension for road riding? Living where you do you've got loads of access to good suppliers. Book some test rides, try hub and crank drive and PAS as opposed to torque sense.

Mechanical disc brake problem on Woosh Big Bear

On the wife's Big Bear I have noticed that the outer brake cables are not too good. The ferrule on the end seems to be compressing the body of the cable and there are strands of the outer sticking out. This makes the brake heavy to pull and sluggish to release. Could that be it?
