Hopeful newbie with some difficult requirements!

How many round trip miles are you intending - commute and leisure - for a journey? Budget? I don't get your point about batteries. A water bottle battery will work with your car carrier, not least because you can take the battery off. Child seats can be compatible with seat tube and rack...

    Opinions Please.....?

The Stealth is too obviously illegal for my liking. Say what you like about cut-off settings, you are asking for attention you won't enjoy using that on the road. Even if you win a legality argument, the police will mess you around for so long it will feel like you've lost. The Synergy looks...

    Decisions Decisions Decisions

I think you will struggle with any ebike, but fitting folding pedals will make for fewer shin scrapes.

    Touring: battery charging questions

In short, I think you about have it. I'm doing a ride from York to Sunderland for the second time on Saturday with a group who have been many times before. Their route pretty much follows the google maps cycling one. Leave York on the east bank of the Ouse, then track north through the...

    Opinions Please.....?

The Stealth looks like a cheap and nasty contraption to me. Owners seem to like Tonaros. But as trex says, three flights of stairs kills all of them. Taking almost any ebike up three flights of stairs regularly is a non-starter.

    Touring: battery charging questions

Agreed, the 'two hours stopped at junctions etc' is the bit many inexperienced cyclists fail to account for. Have you roughed out a route? Depending on where in the North East you are headed, I may be able to assist with last 70 or so miles.

    Touring: battery charging questions

I've done a few 70 mile+ rides. For whatever reason, maintaining a moving average of much more than 10 or 11mph over that distance is hard. It's equally hard to say why, but the time does seem to slip through my fingers. You are planing nine hour days. If you stop for two hours to charge, I...

Looking for a retailer of this bike...

Well, it's got two wheels, a motor and a battery, and it does look the same.

    Another London cyclist killed

At the bike show at the NEC the police had a display to illustrate blindspots. It was a standard articulated lorry tractor with bits of the car park in front of it covered in a mat to indicate where the driver could not see. Can't recall the exact measurements, but the area was several feet to...

    Another London cyclist killed

As flecc has ventured, it may be the lass is more inclined to wait for a green light and, in any event, is slower off the mark. A more aggressive male cyclist gets in front of the truck before it turns left, the female cyclist is still on the truck's nearside when the turn starts. Of course...

Anyone do well on the Grand National?

I believe some bookies pay out each way for fifth on the National. AP would have returned 2-1, not a fortune but I expect a few punters got their overall stake money back. I didn't bother this year, but have made small profits in the past by backing four or five horses each way.

    Touring: battery charging questions

The OP has been doing an 18 mile each way commute so probably has enough fitness to hack the distance. I've done several day rides of 80 miles +, but I'm not sure I could reel them off consecutively. The OP wants to chalk off 280 miles. I can understand 50 miles a day would take too many...

    Another London cyclist killed

I agree with flecc the statistical imbalance is too big to ignore. If four out of five deaths were all ebikers, there would be a big steward's inquiry to find out why. Unfortunately, too many people shy away from this problem for fear of appearing not 'on message' with gender equality. Also...

    Aldi Bike Stand

You can turn the clamp vertically and grip the seat post to help with balance on a rear heavy bike.

    Spokes for Oxydrive Wheel

You can use the bike frame as a truing stand. A couple of zip ties on the stays with the tags cut to length and pointing at the rim will give a good guide.

    Problem inflating "slimed" tubes

The slime is not intelligent, it is trying to seal the valve as if it were a puncture. Next stage - if it hasn't happened already - is the slime will attempt to seal the connector on your pump.

    Another London cyclist killed

The cyclist in this case was male, although the circumstances are worth a quick look. Tipper driver pulled out of side road - Proctor Street - running a red light to turn right into High Holborn. Tipper driver stops in middle of junction, presumably due to traffic. Two cyclists pass along...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Some mountain bikers use footpaths very early in the morning, but it is, as you say, bad form. It can also be bad riding, you will soon get fed up of sties, steps, gates and other obstructions. Bridleways are mixed use, so no worries there, but they are often very rutted and potholed. Your...

    Another London cyclist killed

Usually termed nearside or passenger side, but yes, the bit by the kerb. Another problem is that in London there's often no escape due to pedestrian railings on the cyclist's left hand side.

    Another London cyclist killed

To be fair to our law student member, the guy in the case at Blackfriars Crown is a total knacker. At least three convictions for driving while disqualified, two for drink driving, and at the time of the crash he had no licence or insurance. He also - on his own account - admitted running a...
