Another small mod for the bafang BBSxx

That option did cross my mind, but I regularly ride through some tall grass fields, and think that there may be issues with grass getting jammed between the guard and chainring/chain.

Another small mod for the bafang BBSxx

The SKS Beavertail XL's are actually a mighty fine set of mudguards. Great width coverage on my 26" x 2.10 tyres. SKS have addressed a few issues with the latest version. The fixing brackets are now colour coded black. Originals were silver and looked a bit s**t. They've also adding a clip on...

Another small mod for the bafang BBSxx

In my other thread, I highlighted a small mod that might be useful for some BBSxx owners, to keep their drivetrain a little cleaner. I discovered that a fair bit of road crap was being flung off the front tyre, and onto the chainring and chain. Not good for a Bafang BBSxx  This was it...

50 CYCLES A WARNING no quibble guarentee

Maybe, if a Pedelec member lives near the builders merchant that the OP refers to, they could pop in and have a friendly word with this R. Griffiths guy who signed for it. It's probably just laying around their offices, and with the hustle and bustle of everyday business, nobody has actioned it...

A small mod for the Bafang BBSxx

It's surprising how quickly it knackers the contact area Dave. I could see damage after only half a dozen connections.

A small mod for the Bafang BBSxx

We had this discussion on another thread. The instructions that my battery came with, states to connect the battery first, then switch on charger. I found that this always caused a spark on the battery terminal, and I could see that it was damaging the contacts in the battery charge socket...

A small mod for the Bafang BBSxx

Mine used to do the same, when I connected the charger to the battery in the same way as you. Now, I switch the charger on, so the green light is on, then plug the lead into the battery. Hasn't sparked since doing it this way :)

A small mod for the Bafang BBSxx

Unless you are using really long mudguards on your bike, a lot of crud gets flicked up from the front tyre and onto the chainring and chain. This isn't particularly good for a drive system that needs the chain to be clean, for smooth gear changing and low drivetrain wear. I came up with a...

    Muc-Off Chain Cleaner

On my previous MAC hub motored bike, I never cleaned the chain and just lubed it every now and again. This worked fine for that set-up, as I rarely needed to change out of top gear, and the bike had a robust 7-speed rear derailleur. Moving on to my Bafang BBS02 bike, I felt it was time to take...

Using car brake cleaner on bike hydraulic brake calipers and discs?

I followed your lead on the Muc-Off stuff, and noticed that it boasts about being able to re-hydrate the disc pads: Muc-Off brake cleaner Is dehydration of the pads an issue? and if it is, I guess car brake cleaner will probably dehydrate them pretty badly, as it's usually just pure isopropyl...

    Ebay Offroad E-Bike Builders?

d8veh is spot on. I was running something similar with a 15Ah battery, and travelling at 26/27mph would only see up to 20 miles. The voltage sag near the end of battery capacity was ghastly, so the top speed started tapering off at around the 15 mile point. You will need to factor that into...

    Bafang BBS02 14s lipo

I'm wondering if the display is going a bit quirky, once you are going faster than the maximum speed limit, set in the display special settings. According to the Bafang manual, this can be set for a range from 12km/h to 60km/h (7mph to 37mph) Another cause, could be that your speed sensor and...

Are you sure that the bottom bracket locknut and locknut cover are both torqued to the correct setting? I would be worried, if any part of my bike was flexing or moving about that much  When you hit 44mph, is the motor assisting you at that speed, or are you reaching that speed down a hill...
