Has any one ever had their ebike stolen?

I pay about £160 for a year for two ebikes and a normal pushbike plus rescue service (from the ETA). The two e-bikes are kept inside the house (or they would have to be locked to a ground anchor if kept in the shed).

    Wisper 905SE Sport

The one I own now (built April 2009) had the derailleur set up perfectly which I wasn't expecting TBH for a bike not sold from a bike shop. There is a two stage quality check on each Wisper... its possible that the one Davall tried had either had someone tweaking the setting and getting it...

Contact details for Wai Won Ching

this (and other warnings of reliability problems) was in fact why Wisper got my business rather than Ezee (which were a contender for my e-bike upgrade)

Contact details for Wai Won Ching

it would be good to see him post here or to pass on a message from whatever part of the world he is currently in the just to let us know he is OK! He seems to be letting some parts of his business slip, which is out of character for a Singapore man , I hope he is still in good...

First electric bike - Pro Connect

may I suggest you check what happened to your picture? its got turned into a huge image with 1980s / early 1990s style resolution/solarisation effects! I actually saved the image as it was quite "arty" looking (well that sort of thing appeals to me because of my age group :D) but you might want...

Wisper 905SE City (2009) pedelec sensor - "bug" or "feature"?

an update : Norman sent me a new pedelec sensor (just days after reporting the issue) - the plastic teeth on the old one had got slightly bent in one direction hence the ratchet effect. All is working fine now.. On a lighter note. the new disk came with a small label marked 工作面. For some...

    Thumb throttles

the only gripe I have about the Wisper arrangement is that until you get the angles of the brake lever, gear shifter and throttle all set correctly by rotating them it is very easy to accidentally knock off the power whilst shifting gear...

Has any one ever had their ebike stolen?

The demographics of Ipswich and South London are very similar - there has been a lot of cross migration (myself included) over the years, previously it was port workers at Deptford/Surrey Docks (the site of a radio station I DJ'ed on!) Round here and I guess in London as well there is a sort...

Has any one ever had their ebike stolen?

yep thats exactly the case. I used to help put on raves in SE England from the mid 90s to about 2005 and was involved in pirate radio stations, squats and all sorts of other things and you had to think on your feet sometimes and make a stand against gangs or just muppets what wanted to spoil the...

Has any one ever had their ebike stolen?

To be fair the Met (backed up by CCTV schemes etc) have moved on a bit from the attitudes of 20 years ago and are at least keeping people a bit safer, albeit at the cost of a certain amount of freedom of movement and an increase in surveillance. The older age group (40+) in more affluent areas...

Has any one ever had their ebike stolen?

I think it depends a lot on the area and the MO of the criminals. Some want a bike to nick and resell, others don't even want the bike but just nick it as a controlling tactic to show its their territory... At least two other e-bikes have been nicked in Ipswich and Sudbury (from owners in...

    Which Folder ;)

cadence - speed at which you turn the pedals. Some bikes sense this and use it also to vary power from the motor (as opposed to just sensing that you are turning the pedals). on a normal push bike 60-85 rpm is a good cadence for a commuter. those who are fond of lycra/sweat and in some cases...

How long to keep an electric bike?

I think its completely dependent on the brand TBH. All the "bike" bits are standard MTB bits found on millions of bikes worldwide and even if you couldn't get exact replacements there are always substitutes. Frames of e-bikes would last for as long as the equivalent push bikes - maybe there...

    Saddles again

How do you specify and measure one? in about 2004 I got a new saddle for my Dawes Horizon from Wiggle, but I've lost the code for my old wiggle account when I lived in Reading so can't see what it is from previous orders. This saddle has subsequently been transferred to my Powacycle Salisbury...

    DIY stage 8: Continuous improvements...

I think the market is actually tiny for inidividual e-bike components in the Europe compared to that for ready made bikes or kits. Even in China its not that big a market, there was a Chinese chap on here a few months ago who hinted that most work on ebikes is done by workshops and there isn't...

    Avoid Dealextreme.com

British / European companies can be just as slack at responding to customer queries and often miss delivery dates or lie about them... :(

    Avoid Dealextreme.com

incidentally this is the customer service bit which suggests using the "support tickets" rather than email (of course my.motion may already have tried this and still been ignored). There's also a phone number to call (if you use VOIP or have one of the special phone tarrifs calling Hong Kong can...

    Avoid Dealextreme.com

I don't think the issue is as much the delivery times, its ignoring customers emails and not updating the website correctly to hint items are "in stock" when they are not - both of which are inexcusable. Too many companies (not just this one which I personally have never used) are not 100%...

    DIY stage 8: Continuous improvements...

PS: I forgot to add that the way I use my GPS terminal is much more the "old skool" way by logging grid references / waypoints of noteworthy areas and either using electronic or paper OS maps to look more closely at them - in other words I am investigating a place where I already have a rough...

    DIY stage 8: Continuous improvements...

I used to be a rave organiser and have been using GPS since the early 2000s for various purposes ;) (for the benefit of any coppers on this forum I knocked this activity on the head over 3 years ago as things were getting out of hand) I've had one of these on my bike for about a year now - I...
