Is global warming the con of the century?

Lesser competition helps to hold up oil price. The real competition for oil is cheap coal. You would rather compete against nuclear/wind/solar/wave than cheap coal. So you pay to publicize that coal is killing the planet.

Freego raptor or another ...advice pls

if you are talking about riding without power then the energy efficiency of the drive train should be the most important factor, the size of the wheels is less important. In general, skinny slick tyres win over wide MTB tyres by a large margin, wider bottom bracket (GXP) is stiffer (better)...

at this price level, you pay for the components. Kudos bikes have got some of the best finished frames around. The Cobra has better motor, better fork, beter crankset, better brakes. I don't need to go on, you get the picture.

energy companies, especially petrol companies. They all pay into green funds. Environmental concern pushes up price of energy, read higher value for oil reserves, read higher valuations for oil companies' assets.

ADVICE NEEDED UPGRADE VOLT PULSE TO 500 OR 750W

If you want more power, you need more traction for control. don't stick anything more than 350W geared hub to the front wheel. From 250W to 750W, CD is still best for power delivery, beyond that, go for a rear motor wheel.

    Testing Lithium 36v 10ah battery

Power consumption varies with speed to the cube, hence very sensitive to headwinds. The next factor is motor type. Hub motors tend to give you more miles - about 30miles-33 miles for a 36V10AH battery, crank drives about 10%-20% less because most people with CD motors tend to ride 20% faster...

artstu, I feel a bit protective towards the Karoo because I was involved with its development for a very long time. The new Ounce 245 crankset and semi slick 28mm tyres make riding the bike without power a pleasure, that's also something I wanted to see on Chinese bikes for a very long time...

You are OK with fitting standard HB to you bike because you don't have a throttle. I helped speccing the Karoo. The Karoo has a throttle, therefore necessitates brake cutouts. Tektro make hydraulic e-brakes in China but not to fit cantis.

sorry, I was wrong. You can fit Magura RT8c to replace cantilever. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/magura-rt8-c-hydraulic-road-brake-set/

anotherkiwi, on this type of frame, you either have cantilever brakes or disc brakes. Correct me if I am wrong, I don't think you can mount Magura rim brakes onto the bosses for cantilever. The Karoo is vastly better equipped IMHO, the brakes on the Karoo are Avids on 180mm rotors that stop the...

    Bafang 350w 280rpm vs Q100h 350w 260rpm

if you are interested by the Q128H, check first if your existing controller has Hall (your motor cable has 9 pins instead of 3 pins). If you are interested in going for 48V, buy the whole kit from bmsbattery. This 48V kit is certainly a good for the money and I think 48V is the way to go for...

    Bafang 350w 280rpm vs Q100h 350w 260rpm

I only rode the test bike fitted with q128 48V 800W, not the 36V version. If you compare a 20A 36V controller against a 20A 48V controller on the same Q128 motor, you get 30% more torque at the same speed and 30% more speed at the same torque, or a combination of the two (15% more torque at...

    Bafang 350w 280rpm vs Q100h 350w 260rpm

no, it's the other way round. More Volts = more torque, more speed. Slow winding: more torque.

    Bafang 350w 280rpm vs Q100h 350w 260rpm

350W at 260RPM has too low torque against headwinds. My recommendation for 350W motor is 230RPM on 26" wheels. I have tried the Q128 800W 48V kit from bmsbattery, it's a good motor and about 1.3kg lighter than a 350W Bafang BPM...
