Dutch bikes, hubs and crank drives.

No back pedal, and 5 speed derailer freewheel. I'll see if I can get a picture of the forks. It's the dropouts that concerned me most, very small.

Dutch bikes, hubs and crank drives.

I have been asked to convert a funny Dutch bike to electric (Batavus I think). I say funny, as I'm more used to Mountain bike components. The bike will be used as a demo in a local bike shop, and possibly also rented out on occasion. The bike is steel, as are the front forks, but they look...

New kit arrived for second attempt !!

I fitted the LCD3 to a friend's bike last week. It has temperature (presumably of the air) and motor power (in watts), and a separate power and assist button thing. Unless those things are deal breakers, your not missing much.

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

My premise has full merit, and is 100% factually correct and verifiable. I do indeed prefer a throttle Here's the proof: Me: Would you prefer to have a throttle on you bike? Me: Yes. Sorry to be obtuse, but that's the third time today that someone has told me that my preference is 'wrong' or...

    Bristol Show

Agreed, from now on it needs scrutineering (Is that as still a word? 'twas when I was racing Bangers.) Seriously, I would happily volunteer to help if people feel it would be of use.

Sideways swerve/heavy bike? Where's that come from?

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

Hmm, your missing the point there. with a throttle, you can chose not to twist it, the same as switching your bike off, but without the hassle of actually doing so. I have ridden Bosch bikes, and I agree that the torque sensors are great. they are not as immediately flexible as a throttle though.

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

Throttle saved my bacon a few months ago when crossing a fast B road. There's a bend one direction, and the brow of a hill the other, and I have no choice but to cross here. Just as I set off, my chain came off. There are other times that throttle is very useful - when riding along side my boy...

    Motor on Juicybike Sport models?

BPM's can be front or rear. I fitted a rear just this afternoon. Edit:.... But having looked at the juicy bike sport, I'm guessing a Bafang SWX of some variety....

Can't find anything about those batteries. Can you post a picture please. My guess is that you have the wrong batteries.

    slow bike

Sounds like a battery problem to me. You say you have put new batteries in, but what type? Pictures would help. If you have a multimeter, check the the total voltage and let us know.

homemade battery pack using laptop batteries

Not as easy as it sounds I'm afraid. For starters, you need at least 50 cells. You will need to harvest them, and check them. There's about 8-10 18650 cells in each pack. Normally one is a dud, but this depends on your battery source. Then you need to solder them all together. 5 x 10 in...

Power fluctuates! On and off!! Can you help?

Trust me, if it can be fixed, one of those Indonesian scooters repairers will fix it. I don't think those guys have ever uttered the words 'Beyond economical repair'. If I were you, I'd have them put in a switch, and then see if you can get a new keyswitch on order. It may take 6 months, but...

clicking from my bike, identifying the source

Have checked the seat? Sometimes the springs can cause a noise, or a loose bracket. It's also worth checking the pedals.
