    Performance figures database

Yes, I was only talking about a questionnaire type thing, not a hyperbaric test facility. :D It would have to be somewhat subjective. Trex raises a good point though, with this site being sponsored by so many manufacturers, would it be too divisive? Edit: oh, and agree Dave, some of the...

I guess I just meant that there are limits to everything.

    Performance figures database

On another forum I took part in (about boats) they had a performance database, to give people an idea about engine/hull combinations. While not fool proof, it was useful. It was edited by one of the members, who was able to sift out the obvious BS claims. Would something similar be of use...

That's not the opposite of what I said. I said that modern hub drives go well up hills. If you are 30 stone, don't pedal and want to climb 25% then it probably won't work. My Bafang CST will fire my 18 stone up 10% hills without breaking sweat (it or me).

    Electronic mapping

Most tablets/smartphones are hopeless outdoors. You just can't see them in direct sunlight. I guess GPS's are designed to be used outdoors.

    Hi from clanky

If you order from BMS they will supply it ready made into a rim. If you go for a rear (I guess you will want to as a m/c rider) you will need to dish it, no problem for a capable man like yourself.

    Hi from clanky

When I said poke, I really meant torque, I should have been clearer. As you say, it's not really about top speed. I don't know anything about those motors I'm afraid. My guess is that they are DD from the look of it. If you buy the right kit first time, you won't have to buy it again, so I...

No, either can be controlled with a throttle. There is a lot of debate about which is better for hills, but some of the modern hub drives (BPM/CST) can cope with most hills as long as you can pedal a bit or aren't too heavy.

    Hi from clanky

Welcome Clanky. Coming from the motorcycling world, I suggest that you get yourself something with a bit of poke to it, or you may be disappointed. A rear drive BPM/CST from BMS battery would be a good start, and would come within budget. If your going off road, you probably need a geared hub...

    ConhisMotor - 48 volt 1000 watt PROBLEM

You need one of these, less than £5 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-LCD-Multimeter-Voltmeter-Ammeter-OHM-AC-DC-Circuit-Checker-Tester-Buzzer-/360538749861?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item53f1c8bba5

    ConhisMotor - 48 volt 1000 watt PROBLEM

Some tips: 1. If someone offers to help you, perform the tests that they ask, and report back. It's rude not to. 2. Shorting the throttle often will not work. The controllers are clever, and won't always respond to that. You need to test it with a meter, as suggested by D8veh. 3. You can...

    Pet carriers

£162 ! It 'd be cheaper to buy yourself a new cat at your destination, and have the dog go in a taxi.;) Can't you find a way to screw/bolt/bungee/glue/gaffer tape/velcro/cable tie an ordinary pet carrier onto the rack, saving yourself a hundred quid? Even if you had to buy a new power drill and...

    Throttle Only Control??

BMS recommend the S06 (s or p), which will make it run at 15 amps. You could probably modify the controller a little for a few extra amps. The next step up is the S09 , which IIRC is about 20 - 22a. That may be too much, but others will be better placed to comment on that. If you are average...

    Pet carriers

I saw a bloke the other day with a Jack Russell in a front basket. Dog seemed perfectely happy sat there, watching the world go by. Don't expect it would work with a cat though.

How do you all find the q100 (or 100h) compared to the SWX or BPM? Considering options for next build.

puncture resistant tires its harder to pedal no power

Tyres make a big difference. I went from cross country tyres to near slicks (schwalbe Fat Frank's) and it was probably the second best upgrade I ever made. Smoother, faster, and less resistance. If you normally ride on pavement/path/trails then slicks are for you. Schwalbe Big Apple are also...
