    battery charge

In the past, I have used a small load to get the cells down to the same voltage, and balance them. I found that a car rear lamp bulb (21w ish at 12v) will draw about 0.5 amps at 4v. You would need to connect it up and keep a very careful eye on the voltage, and it may take some time (poss a...

    Throttles in Europe

There's no reason why bigger motors/controllers cannot be governed to 25kph. The KU series controllers (BMS battery and others) all seem to have the speed limit option. Does not make it legal though if its above 250w, which is why I guess most people don't use that function.

    Voltage sag monitoring

Yes, watt meter will record Vm, which will give you the lowest voltage. Just be aware that if the BMS is cutting the battery output, then the watt meter will have reset, so Vm will not be valid.

New Kit - Is this messy?

Is this about condoms? If so I feel your pain Dave. :-) If its about brake sensors, then I'm in the same boat. The one DC sent me works fine, so I'm a bit reluctant to cut it up to find out. (Obviously the ones you sent were also fine too, cheers).

    Hello from East Yorkshire

If it is a Twizzy, can you post a picture of the controller so that D8veh can work out how to solder the shunt?

    Hello from East Yorkshire

Sorry LR, misunderstood your sentiment. Thought you were suggesting that 350watt systems were not proven to be relliable. You are right to say its a grey area. To sum it up: <200w: White 200-250: very light grey, off white. >250: grey, mostly. However, the OP indicates that he is familiar...

    Hello from East Yorkshire

250 watts may be all you need if you are fit and 7 stone soaking wet. Other times more power may be necassary...and there is nothing 'unproven' about a 350 watt system. It would help if you were able to give an idea of exactly how 'Extra optimal' your weight is, as well as terrain, range and...

    Wear and tear

I ride mainly road/farm track, and a bit of beach. I never clean/lube after use, but I do add a bit of 'whatever' lube/oil/grease when I remember. I got about 1000 miles from the chain and cassette (shimano) with front wheel drive motor. Since it only cost £30 to replace chain/sprocket I'm...

DC, I'll happily take it and test it. If its a dud, I'll try to fix it. If it's a good un, I'll buy it from you. Will PM details.

    Bike kits

Those hidden wire brake sensors from BMS batt (and others I expect) are really good, and very easy to use. Just pass the brake cable through and cable tie to frame, then connect to controller. . The cheap brake cutout levers supplied with most kits look/feel like they are made of cheese. I would...

    Faulty battery, 20ah/36v shrink wrap.

I'm pretty sure it a battery problem, because it does not occur when I use my other, seemingly identical but 6 months older battery. Also, when it cuts out my watt meter (connected between batt and controller) goes off. ...but I am using a very similar controller, the S12P.......and I...

    Bike kits

I have one of those. I used the spanner as a shim for something. It was ok for that, but nothing else. The tool itself has held up to some serious abuse, with two badly stuck cranks. Had to use blow torch on both, and hammer on a 12 inch spanner. But you also need a BB removal tool....

    Bike kits

Delivery for that kit will be $160 - $200(USD) from BMS (Depending on courier/Timescale) according to my logon. You will probably get stung for import duty and VAT, allow another £50 (GBP) or so. Front or rear? Depends, and opinion varies but I've done a few of each, and front is easier. That...

    Faulty battery, 20ah/36v shrink wrap.

I think what I'll do is take two wires out from p- and b-, and stick an Anderson powerpole on each. I can then run it normaly, in the knowledge that if it cuts out on me I can connect up my bypass wire and get home. I will also have one more attempt to persuade BMSB to send me a replacement...
