    Pedestrian Crossing madness

Ahhh, amigafan2003! I'm sure that you once said that you had blocked me. I think that your blockage occurred shortly after I said that your ignorance shone like a golden shaft of urine as it passed through the dark void of your intellect. This was in response to a very passionate appeal by you...

    The dongle re-visited

trex, I will list three things which must be complied with if an ebike is to be considered a bicycle and as such the rider will enjoy all of the many freedoms which cycling brings. Under the max weight limit. A 250 Watt rated motor. Restricted to a defined maximum assist speed. There may be...

    Pedestrian Crossing madness

I know that I should not respond because the fact that you are attempting to argue with the laws of physics says quite sufficient about you. However, I do feel an irresistable urge to document the fact that in addition to having a very limited technical capacity, you are an iredeemable...

    The dongle re-visited

The realy stupid thing about this discussion is that there is no need to derestrict, recent equipment is very adequate in its standard form.

I'm not entirely certain about that. I suspect that the device would need removing completely. Perhaps someone else can answer that.

There is nothing wrong in what you say. Derestricting for off road use is perfectly legal (as long as it is used off road as far as the law is concerned).

There is no need for a law yo say you can't derestrict your bike, you can. But if you do, it no longer fits the definition ( in law) of an electrically assisted bike. It therefore falls into motor vehicle law and legislation. Which is fine if you are prepared to spend the money in order to comply.

    Pedestrian Crossing madness

Do you mean my comments based on irrefutable Newtonian mechanics? The laws of physics which determine acceleration forces due to change in velocity over distance? To a technically challenged ignoramus, it might be crap, so I can see how you arrived at your conclusion.

I'm sorry but you are so wrong that it is difficult if not impossible to correct you. In order to fully understand the issues you need to gain some additional knowledge. You have both embarrassed and made a fool of yourself with this post. As soon as you derestrict the bike, it falls outside...

    Pedestrian Crossing madness

You were continuing the theme of whether the court service and or police disclose the identity of a witness. I was making the point that as a witness, your identity is likely to be disclosed, to which you responded that neither the police or courts give out the witness name and address. I had...

No, an uncomfortable truth is no reason for censorship.

Post #17. I didn't say that the police or courts disclose the witness address.

No it doesn't and well you know it. You are twisting and distorting the facts to suit your own agenda. You know very well that the Department for Transport intend to adopt the 250 Watt limit and have indicated that no one will be prosecuted for using a 250 Watt bike. A summary is available...

    Pedestrian Crossing madness

For what it's worth, my suggestion would be to take your clip to a police station, say what you have witnessed, but state clearly that you are unwilling to give your name and address or to make a witness statement. They can still view the footage and proceed to interview the registered keeper...

    Pedestrian Crossing madness

Totally agree, its better to send it in anonymously than to sit on it and do nothing. The police will most likely interview the registered keeper under caution. If they are lucky and he admits the offence, they will prosecute. If he doesn't speak or denies driving, it will go nowhere without a...

    Pedestrian Crossing madness

I didn't say that they did give out your name and address. I said that your name will be disclosed to the defence, which it will be if you make a statement and the case goes to court. From the Crown Prosecution Service website: The openness of judicial proceedings is a fundamental principle...

    Pedestrian Crossing madness

If the driver pleads not guilty, the defence will want sight of the statement and in likelihood want to cross examine the witness. It's inevitable that at least the witness's full name will become known to the driver under these circumstances and it's not difficult to find someone's address from...

No, but the car driver might do if you give the police a statement. As you suggest in your previous post.

    Pedestrian Crossing madness

E But you need to sign the statement and provide contact details so that you can be traced as a witness and called to court if required. If sent in anonymously, the most that the police can do is speak to the registered keeper under caution and ask them if they were the driver and if they...

Safer cycling? Don't get a helmet and cross red light

This surprises me too and I've never seen it. The polystyrene must be the very low density variety such as that used in underfloor insulation or the backing on insulated plaster board. That density of polystyrene poseses virtually no structural rigidity and crumbles or breaks easily when...
