Crank drive - mid-drive vs. hub motor (Woosh Big Bear / Krieger)

the Krieger still has the same soft start/stop of power on/off typical of Lishui controllers but is programmed with shorter timing in comparison with previous woosh CDs. Before, the timing was programmed for 360 degrees on the cranks, now 90 degrees.

    Opinions Please.....?

it's nice to have more assist levels but you don't need more than 3. Now you know quite a lot about e-bikes, go try a few to find out what you like and don't like and work out which side you are on, hub or crank drive.

Mystery noise on my big bear - suggestions please.

it's possible. You said while coasting, that rules out chain, bottom bracket and crank arms. The freewheel still turns while coasting.

    Woosh Big Bear error 25

error 25 means brake sensor is activated. Pull the plug on each brake sensor to find out which one cuts in. Then follow the cable to the microswitch inside the lever. Check the microswitch with a multitester. If it's damaged, contact woosh to get a replacement.

Sad death of Cyclotricity Revolver :-( Help choosing a new ebike?

there are few bikes that can be described as indestructible. £1500 would only buy you an entry level German bike. Your best bet would be an Ezee bike for that budget.

Sad death of Cyclotricity Revolver :-( Help choosing a new ebike?

5,000 miles, £650 less may be £250 residual value, about 8p-10p per mile running cost. It's not bad going. so what's your budget now?

Mystery noise on my big bear - suggestions please.

it could be from the freewheel skipping. On the Big Bear, it's a Shimano TZ21

Sad death of Cyclotricity Revolver :-( Help choosing a new ebike?

how many miles did you do in the last 18 months with the Revolver? If you do a lot of miles, you may be better off converting a good bike than buying another cheap one.

Sad death of Cyclotricity Revolver :-( Help choosing a new ebike?

wouldn't it be easier to fix your bike? if it still works with the throttle, you'd probably only need to fix the pedelec sensor which costs only £3-£5.

Crank drive - mid-drive vs. hub motor (Woosh Big Bear / Krieger)

I agree, it is a useful device to have. The woosh gear sensor was installed in their Sport CD demo bike in Southend. I guess it only fits the Rapid Fire shifter, woosh have only two bikes fitted with this shifter. Most of their bikes have the Tourney 7-speed shitfer. Another reason, according to...

Crank drive - mid-drive vs. hub motor (Woosh Big Bear / Krieger)

the gear sensor goes inline with the gear cable, it's a 10 minute job. http://gearsensor.com/ The sensor acts like a brake sensor. Woosh have made a gear sensor last year. The woosh gear sensor is a tiny Hall device, about the size of a pea, and installed inside the rapid fire gear shifter...

Seat lift mechanism and battery querry

You should remove the battery for transport. If you are worried about the battery terminals being rained on, cover them with a shower cap and a rubber band.

Smart Pie 4 and NMC 24V 20Ah Battery

Most hub bikes come with one of the three main types of motor: direct drive (240mm diameter, 7kgs-9kgs, cheap and very robust but heavy, has low torque, not good for hill climbing), 120mm diameter, 3 kgs geared hub motor (good torque, lightweight, stealthy but not good for steep hills, still is...

that motor is from this company: http://sempumotor.en.alibaba.com/product/1858723871-221832943/Integrated_Front_motor_for_E_bike.html They showed it at Eurobike last year. 17% gradient? if it's long then it will be tough for any bike, DD motors like the Magic Pie are not good choice. If you...

    Opinions Please.....?

I thinkyou get a couple of things wrong: the price of the Burisch is higher than £599 and the Sport CD has the TCM crank drive, not 8-Fun motor and is out of stock at the moment. The CS2 is good value, the Burisch is good looking. If you can get the Burisch cheaply and locally, go for it.

Some advice from you experts please!

if you are not too heavy and of average height (5ft 4 to 5ft 10), the Santana is a good choice for fitting a child seat on the rear, up to 25kgs (child + seat). It has been recently updated to have a King Meter LCD and 15AH controller, will cope well with up to 10% gradient...

    Opinions Please.....?

for a long time, I wondered why the Kalkhoff crank drive bikes are more satisfying to ride in comparison with Chinese bikes. I concluded that it is the way power is delivered and their speed limit is tappered rather than the mechanical bikes because my Specialized is as well equiped as the...
