    Newbie report duty

for Bristol hills? I'd put a £500 front BPM hub kit with 15AH battery on the downtube and a left sided pedelec sensor on this bike and keep the triple chainring. Cost: about £500.

Convert a Kona Cinder Cone to an electric bike; please help!

there are quite a few members with BBS01, including frequent posters like nealh, mechaniker (he sells tons of the stuff) and myself. I have hydraulic brakes without sensor so I can't verify right now for you but I have ridden BBS01 with brake sensors many times and as far as I can recall, the...

looking for a pedelec for commuting to work and back

short haul high speed bike? that's a job for stalkingcat's 11KW prototype. You'll need something like 1kw 48V direct drive kit (about £200) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-Bicycle-E-Bike-Conversion-Kit-48V-1000W-Brushless-Motor-Rear-Wheel-/381170361953 or the Q11 from bmsbattery ($115)...

Convert a Kona Cinder Cone to an electric bike; please help!

I knew you've got your kit from Eclipse. Why didn't you contact them about this? I think that your controller is wrongly programmed, it should cut the power when the brake sensor is activated.

unplug the LCD and controller. There should be 5 or 6 wires going through the main cable between the LCD socket and the controller 5-pin connector. Check with a multitester for shorts. You can download the manual by googling Bigstone C300 or C500 manual.

    Copenhagen wheel

the XMAX CD motor with bottom bracket torque sensor and LCD is about $275 from China. Member mechaniker wrote the manual for it. There is a little craze going on at the moment. Designers are busy creating apps so that lazy riders don't have to think for themselves or press buttons to control the...

Shetland woman looking to find my perfect Ebike, Need Help Please!

yes, can't see anything wrong with it, other than the location for the battery. Heavy weight perched high up on the saddle post, the bike tends to fall over. Other than that, it looks very good for the money.

    Copenhagen wheel

Putting everything inside the motorised wheel simplifies wiring but destabilizes the bike. One thing I was thinking of but still have not seen, why nobody has put the battery and CD motor on to the bottom bracket? it's the most logical place to go for.

Convert a Kona Cinder Cone to an electric bike; please help!

there is no difference in pedalling effort and little difference in efficiency or power between the two, you pedal as much or as little as you like. The BBS01 is easier to fit. By the way, you cannot overvolt the BBS01. To be honest, you can't overvolt the Xiongda kit neither. They are compact...

    Giant Replacement

Yes, bending the rotor disc. Amazing isn't it? Nearly all cable operated disc brakes (also called mechanical disc brakes) have single piston and work like that, but it's a technology that is tried and tested for over 50 years with maybe a billion units made. All the big brands like Shimano...

    Giant Replacement

cable operated disc brakes usually have a single piston (hydraulic brakes have two). the pad on the inside is fixed. Whenyou squeeze the lever, the outside pad presses against the rotor hard enough to bend the rotor slightly until it comes into contact with the inside pad. The pads on...

bbs01, cyclone or none at all?

I doubt that speed is the determining factor in choosing the BBS01 250W. Because if it does, you only have to select a more powerful unit, 350W for 18-22mph average, 500W for 22-25mph and 750W after that.

    My BBS01 conversion

that's a good idea. Which bike do you use as a donor? just re-read your post, its a Marin. The last time I saw a Marin with the BBS01, I did not notice the gearbox casing fouling the chainstay. Can you post some pictures?

Charging ahead: the electric bike revolution has arrived in Britain - E-bikes in the Telegraph

One commenter said 'As a cyclist I fear these on the roads of London.' Another said: 'the reason why i won't be buying one those Gocycles until it is made in this country giving us jobs. At the price it sells at there is no excuse to make it in poland.' I wonder if Richard Thorpe of GoCycle is...

OxyDrive RC kit hybrid installation review

there are two frequent difficulties when fitting a front motor wheel to the Trek 7.3: the fork profile is tapered such a way that the motor casing may rub against the fork and there is no room to fit the PAS sensor to the chain side. If it were my bike, I'd go for a rear motor wheel and fit a...

    Replacement Battery for Freedom Folder

I think Jonathan's tactics is too confrontational. It could well be that your controller cuts out for other reasons than the battery is not good, for example, a blown Hall sensor, in which case, they are the innocent party although being the professionals, they should have given your bike a good...

    Giant Replacement

the front brake rotor needs a couple of rides and a bit of Wesh rain to bed in. If you want to upgrade to hydraulic brakes, woosh have them for about £80 (front and rear) last time I talked to Tony about hydraulic brakes. They are sensored and supplied with 180mm rotors.
