    Kudos Not Impressed (Resolved)

Sending it back seems rather an extreme and expensive reaction to a broken bit of plastic. Any way to make it usable until a replacement arrives? There's not much on a bicycle that can't be fixed with bodge tape and a few cable ties. Or remove it altogether and tuck your right trouser leg...

What's happening with the Brompton ebike?

Is Brompton anywhere near producing a factory ebike? Last I heard the project had been delayed because one of the component suppliers - might have been the motor - had ceased trading. Brompton were sending out regular email updates to prospective customers. I've not seen one of those...

    New crank drive motor

That is an integrated drive by Brose, so it looks like they are doing that one on their own account and the belt one - presumably as an after-market add-on - in partnership with Continental. Edit: I see the integrated one uses a belt, but they look like different products to me. Yours, in...

    newbie with same old question

Just to put a spoke into the works, Kudos Dave is having a sale. The tourer with hub gears at £645 would make an ideal commuter. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/15589-kudos-sale-495-00-a.html

    newbie with same old question

Most commuters find they need mudguards and a rack. These can be retrofitted to most bikes but are usually neater if they come with the bike. The Woosh Scirocco2 has both.

    SPD (clip-in) pedals

Clipless will fit but I doubt there is much point on an ebike. The extra power from the up stroke is minimal, the main benefit is they allow racers to run very high cadences - 100+ - without spinning off. Most riders suffer a 'clipless moment' when the darn things won't unclip leading to a...

    2014 KTM Macina cross

Lots of 'me-tooism' in most industries, so perhaps we will see prices come down from other makers.

    2014 KTM Macina cross

Prices look good to me. Around £2K for an 11ah Bosch ebike is more than fair.

    Bigfish folding ebike

Clumsy fold for near Brommie money. I think they might struggle.

    Bike on Ebay advice please

Den, Gruntus lackus is an unpleasant ebiking condition which you definitely don't want. Your original spec was for journeys of about 10 miles, which means you also don't want that big battery. I'm not keen on the behind seatpost mount because it makes for a long and unwieldy bicycle. Raleigh...

    Defeated by a hill

The chainstay on the Rose has two enclosed slots, and the dropout is a separate metal plate. Neat enough, but I suspect if the plate was mounted for a much shorter chain the tyre would foul the mudguard.

    Defeated by a hill

That chain tensioner looks neat, but I don't understand why a hub gear should need one.

    Defeated by a hill

Loads of complaints on the web from unpowered bike riders about first on the Alfine 11 being too high. It shouldn't be a problem on a decent powered bike, so the slightly uncomfortable truth for me is that I have some way to go in terms of building fitness. Going back to the Alfine 11, my mate...

    Pedelec Riders Club of Britain

Good offer from Martin, all these things cost money. My thinking is we are not quite ready for a separate website/forum, there is not yet enough of us and having to go somewhere else on the web is bound to dilute numbers. I've seen a few cycling club websites which are clearly all but dead -...

    Defeated by a hill

Some wise words (above) from Alex. My condition - or lack of it - is a big part in my inability to make that climb. I don't like hills, not least because I'm a very cautious descender so spend most of my time warming the brakes on the way down. This means even on a powered bike I tend...

    Defeated by a hill

First on my bike is not low, you tend to climb at 6-7mph without spinning the pedals very fast. The hill is not long, but it is very sharp. After climbing several steep ones to get to it, there wasn't a lot of power left in my legs. Sounds a bit feeble after only 12 miles, but two blobs had...

    Defeated by a hill

Thanks for doing the research - I'm fairly sure that's it. I'd struggle to control the bike around the switchback at 15mph, even assuming I had the power. I was up with some of the fitter riders at that point and a few of those were pushing.

    Defeated by a hill

I've just completed the Durham Big Ride and am disappointed to have been defeated by one of the hills. The ride from Durham City towards Consett and back is very lumpy, particularly on the way out. The hateful incline that did for me was Iveston Bank. I got most of the way up, but...

Elliptigo - could this be converted:

A couple of people did the London Edinburgh London ride on these to prove they are a viable alternative to an ordinary bicycle. One of the riders commented he put in about the same amount of effort as on a bike, but went a bit slower.

Elliptigo - could this be converted:

Can't see why a hub motor couldn't be mounted on the front.
