    Cheap Chinese vs Cheapish Conversion?

Looks like the bike is single speed. You don't need dozens on an electric bike, but a few, say three, would be good.

    Road Bike to Ebike......

You mention in the OP your local bike shop trued the wheel a while ago. Probably simplest to take it back to them for a tension check. You could tighten the looser ones yourself, but there is a knack to the job and if you are anything like me you will make a balls of it. The back wheel on a...

    KTM Macina Cross 400W

The Alfine hub on my Rose/Bosch bike changes better on the move unassisted. But in real world use, the only way I've found is a fairly deliberate pause on the pedals. I reckon you need to pause a fraction longer than on an unpowered bike because there's a slight delay in the motor stopping...

Mercedes-Benz Hybrid Electric Bike (battery woes)

Ah, but yours is nice and shiny and new. Like the butterfly bars.

Mercedes-Benz Hybrid Electric Bike (battery woes)

A pic or two of the bike would be nice, Neil.

How long should my chainwheel last?

There were burrs on the chainring of a standard Brompton which was being worked on in my local bike shop recently. The chain was sticking - not coming off the chainring cleanly - which was causing the rear sprocket to jump occasionally. Investigation showed the cause to be a new chain fitted...

    Wall protection

Those floor stands are also known as wheel benders because the wheel is not designed to take the sideways twisting force they can impart. Probably OK if used carefully, but I would find a different solution.

    2 cyclists killed yesterday

There are many frustrations with cycle paths, but I use them where possible because I'd rather be the biggest and fastest moving thing in my environment than the smallest and slowest. Having said that, from reading a bit about Lands End to John o'Groats routes, I think it's difficult to cross...

Cycle route wanted ... near Cambridge.

Some cycling stuff on the relevant local authority website: Cambridge cycle map From a brief glance, I wonder if you could ride into town from where you are, ride out in a different direction for about the same distance, and then head back directly to where you started.

Best ebike for a newbie on diet/fitness regime following a heart attack

Range really is a length of a piece of string question. I can just about get 50 miles out of my Rose/Bosch ebike which has an 11ah battery. The Bosch system is reckoned to be about as economical as you can get. I reckon you will struggle to get 50 miles out of the 10ah Kudos, but should...

Anyone had an interesting ride recently ?

Aw, thanks Lyn. What's the prize - five minutes behind the bike shed? Moving on swiftly to your move, the likes of Rightmove are great, but as you are discovering there is a danger of drowning in a sea of information. Bit like buying an electric bike, or anything else these days. I...

Anyone had an interesting ride recently ?

While some of us are floating around in a yacht, Alan Sugar style, some of us are riding around scabby North Tyneside. Still, Lynda did ask, so these pics should do nothing if not make her feel homesick. They were taken today on my regular run from Sunderland to South Shields, across the...

Best ebike for a newbie on diet/fitness regime following a heart attack

Your weight at 18+ stone is irrelevant - you are not too heavy for any ebike. In a way that's not helpful because it means your choice is even wider and more bewildering. In broad terms, most ebikes in your price range have about the same amount of poke. Your proposed commute is short so a...

Euro 220 for replacement Bosch E-bike batteries on Ebay: good Value? Legal to import?

Looks to me like it's one used battery. The seller appears genuine saying- according to Bing translator - the 'recharges are unknown' but the battery should be 'minimally usable'...

    My wife has little legs.

You say in the OP your wife has a 27" inside leg. My inside leg is only 29" and I can ride a 19" bike with a fair bit of the seatpost showing. I think your wife's legs are plenty long enough for a 26" wheel step through.

    Pedelec Bike Purchased at last

Nice, and not bad value at £3K given it's got several hundred quids worth of gear hub and belt drive. Downside for me would be the smaller battery. Let me know if you decide to upgrade to the bigger one - I will take the old one of your hands for a reasonable sum.

    New Honda E Bike

The bike may be a bit last century to us aficionados on here, but most casual buyers won't think about that. And people like Hondas. I think it will sell.

    Recommendations for a newbie

The A2B you've looked at would do the job, although it's heavy, even for an ebike. Not sure about luggage, either. Commuting by bike you'll probably find you want panniers for the odd item of clothing, sarnies, laptop, etc. The Kudos tourer is worth a look. Decent ebike, specify the 8-speed...

    Rose Black Creek E6

Sounds like the Kalkhoff is nearer to what you want, and 50 Cycles do demo rides. It won't be quite as comfy as the Rose - the 29" wheels and near-balloon tyres really soak up the bumps. Should be decent quality, although we've had a few ' my Kalkhoff's conked out' threads on here recently...
