Bosch Battery Covers come to e-bikeshop in the UK

Not convinced about a cover, but I will take the opportunity to thank Martin for fulfilling my recent battery order. Communication from him was good, the goods are as described and arrived when Martin said they would. So if you fancy a cover, you can be confident in the buying process.

    Wiggle Southern Rough Ride

Not bad for £30. I'm interested to know what reception Eddie will get when he turns up on an ebike. He might be 'disqualified' from chip timing - if the organisers realise. It's almost certain some of the other riders will moan about an ebike and call Eddie a cheat. The sincerity of these...

Cost of new batteries - re Wisper

I'm all in favour of putting a bit of pressure on retailers, but can see no reason why Wisper should sell a battery cheap just because it will be fitted on an older bike. You wouldn't expect a cheaper price for a chain, tyre, or any other component just because your bike is old. Whether it's...

    Bromhopper

I watched the forks being spread on my Brompton when the Nano conversion was done. I couldn't say how far they were spread, but it is only a few millimetres. Of more concern was the bit of meat that needed to come out of the dropouts. Must have weakened them a little, but no problems so far.

    Bromhopper

A cheap and nasty Chinese front end on a Brompton? Sacrilege, vandalism, there should be a law against it.

    Tesco hopper

I had a wireless failure on my Rose/Bosch ebike, so wired would be my suggestion.

Nano for a Brompton in the South East - recommendations please?

The smallest battery would do it - easily. You have already worked out the route and are familiar with Brompton use, so I agree, a bit of extra weight in the bike and bag shouldn't stop you. As regards fitting, mine was done in a day trip to Leamington Spa, so it could be a pub lunch in...

Nano for a Brompton in the South East - recommendations please?

I have a Brompton Nano and have been pleased with it. That said, we need more details of your commute. Is it going to be, to use the buzz phrase, multi-modal? The Nano is a good conversion, but the weight of the motor impacts on the folded package, meaning it would not be very handy to lump...

Help with Eco-Stepper, where to put bags??

The pannier rails would probably foul on the battery. A seat post beam rack would probably fit, with a trunk bag on the platform. But this brings the strength of the seat post into play. It ought to be fine, but nothing would surprise me on a cheap Chinese bike. A rucksack would provide...

    how much faster by eBike.....???

The various calculations on this thread make a diverting read on a rainy Sunday. But has any account been taken of head - or tail - wind? A stiff head wind can increase battery power consumption by 50 per cent or more. Lots of restarts can also have an impact - it's one of the reasons why...

Can anyone recommend a good bike for hill climbing and distance

I agree this 24-mile commute is not doable on an ebike, day in, day out. But the OP says he is going to start doing part of it, which is fair enough. How is the rest of the journey to be accomplished? If I read the posts correctly, it's by train. Lumping a heavy ebike through a station and...

    how much faster by eBike.....???

Needless to say I agree. I respect anyone who can understand the physics, but that knowledge is useless unless it is properly applied.

    how much faster by eBike.....???

No, but there is a danger your common sense has left you. As flecc says, any gain is so small as to be irrelevant.

    how much faster by eBike.....???

Bunny hopping cattlegrids? Good stuff. I often get off and push, particularly on the Brommie with its little wheels. On a more serious note, I do not like the way posters on here are almost forced into apologising for liking good quality equipment. The suggestion one has to be snob to like a...
