    Bike cleaning

Good point flecc, do you think it would better just to use a good medium to firm brush to remove the crud, then lubricate? Also thanks Vikki, it'll be interesting to see if these dry lubricants are any good :)

    Bike cleaning

I ride a lot of miles along dusty tracks and the drive train tends to get very gunky. Would it be safe/good idea to blast all the crud off with an isopropyl alcohol spray? Hopefully this would be less damaging on any electrics than water. Also, once i've cleaned up the bike, any...

Disaster - and I was doing so well!!

Don't feel embarrased Ratzakli, the same happened to me last week. I was like WTF is going on. It is hard to spot the first time. Good thing is that now it's done it once, i'll know what to do next time :)

    Pedelec sensor

    Thanks for the information :)

    Pedelec sensor

Sometimes when i stop to admire the scenery, i have a habit of pedalling backwards. I would expect the bike to move forward as the pedelec sensor detects rotation of the crank. I just wondered how the sensor can tell that i'm not pedalling forwards. It appears to be only a disc with little...

What is the best budget electric bike?

    Cyclamatic all the way :D

    Are Raleigh bikes any good?

I've owned a few Raleigh bikes since my first Tomahawk many years ago :o An original i must add, not that new one they sell ;) Although i've not actually ridden any of their models for the past 15 years, i remember that they seemed solid and reliable. The latest bikes seem to be fairly...

    Ping Battery

So for my information :) Is it a normal thing for cells to become unbalanced doing use, requiring the BMS to rebalance them? I would have thought that they would discharge at the same rate after the initial charge/balance. I am still wet behind the ears regarding battery technology.

    Waterproof case for Ping Battery

No no far from it :D The reason i asked is that a while ago i bought some KYB car parts from the U.S. They were a really good price until dirty rotten customs slapped their fee on top. Plus Royal Mail got a kick in with a postal charge too!!! The Ping's are good value for money, so don't...

    Waterproof case for Ping Battery

Grizzly Bear, did you pay import taxes or extra charges on any of your Ping batteries?

    Ping Battery

Psycosis, when you first charged the battery did you wait for the charger and bms to balance the individual cells? I've heard that the Ping batteries go through many cycles before they are balanced properly and this can take a long time. The cell voltages don't look good if they are meant to be...

    Shimano: The K9's danglies!!!

The stock front v brake on my Cyclamatic has always had problems with squealing. Adjustment and cleaning would lessen the squeal, but it's still been there in the background to p*** me right off. Excuse the language :o Usually to the extent that i would not use the front brake and end up...

    Power cabling question

Beat me to that one NRG. I'll slightly rephrase my original question. The insertion of the Turnigy meter would in theory be the same as having a cable run of approximately 250cm from the battery to the motor controller. Would a cable length this size be likely to affect performance if original...

    Power cabling question

Although i would love one of these, it's a bit too pricey to have on a £350 bike ;)

    Power cabling question

I'm ordering a Turnigy watt meter soon and have been poking around my Cyclamatic P.P. to see how i'm going to fit it. I'll have it mounted on the handlebars. Without going over this particular bike's layout (probably been done to death already) i've noted the following: Wiring from battery to...

    Oh-oh, my first puncture!!!

You obviously haven't heard of the ' moonbeam sonic bike pump ' and ' quasi linear titanium tube patches ' either :D

    Oh-oh, my first puncture!!!

Welcome to the world of pain in the arse to change the rear tube/tyre  This is how i did it. Loosen off both hub nuts. Then remove the bracket that secures the servo brake to the frame and also detach the brake operating cable. Then, with a bit of jiggling about, you can lift the...

    The usual questions.... again!!!

The reason i asked is that i reckon my bike has a fairly modest 200w motor on it. Even with peak wattage it probably sits comfortably within a safe working tolerance for the controller. I did toy with the idea of changing the rear hub motor for a 500w one, but calculated that it would be...

    The usual questions.... again!!!

Regarding a 24v controller with specs: Max 14A, Rated 7A When drawing a load from it, does the max rating mean that it will allow no more than 14 amps and will not go over this? Or that the controller is likely to be damaged run continuously over 14 amps but it will provide brief periods over...
