    Repair BBS02 Bottom bracket

I agree with you there. I also notice that quite a few Chinese factories use this bottom bracket assembly and gearbox for their crank drive motors, I guess SB just buy them in, so it would be out of their direct control. Perhaps they get better quality control with time.

    Battery care

denwyn, I misunderstood your situation, sorry. Batteries are at risk when not used regularly, even when you keep it fully charged. The risk of damage increases with the time you keep it in storage. The best depth of charge for storage is about half full, where the Lithium is split about 50/50...

    Newcomer to pedelec,

those 1000/1500W motors are direct drive, perfect for longevity and silent running but no match for BPM for climbing hills. Plus, they are heavy and consume a lot of battery.

    Repair BBS02 Bottom bracket

on the contrary. If it works perfectly on throttle then your motor is OK, just refit the cranks. Grease the BB spindle, gently tap the cranks into position with a rubber mallet and do up the crank bolts real tight.

    Kalkhoff battery question

you are correct of course. The word 'dendrites' carries slightly different meaning to 'dendritic', the latter suggests a smaller formation than dendrites. sources: http://phys.org/news/2014-10-stanford-scientists-smart-lithium-ion-battery.html#inlRlv...

    Kalkhoff battery question

it's sensible to do so to make sure that all the Lithium circulate between the two electrodes. If you recharge every few miles, only a small portion of the Lithium moves between the electrodes. The immobile Lithium then tends to stick to the electrodes and form dendrites, reducing your battery...

    When to scrap an e-bike?

Yes, for recycling. Their terminals must be taped over, no exposed wires. Lithium batteries are classified as WEEE like old televisions but do not contain hazardous substances.

    Hello - it's flat here

that depends also on how many miles you ride a year. The OP commute is 28 miles per day, most days of the year, that's about 6,000 to 7,000 miles a year. A 10AH battery will require one recharge at each commute - plus weekend rides, say 250 charges per year. Each charge reduces the battery...

    Hello - it's flat here

A bigger battery offers three advantages: your bike climbs hills faster, requires fewer charges over time and lessens range anxiety. For your 28 miles a day commute, a 10AH battery is just about enough in nice weather, not on rainy or windy days.

    Folding bikes pros and cons

if you go see woosh in Southend, try out other step throughs while you are there: the Santana (26" 10AH battery), the Santana CD (crank drive, 26" wheels 15AH battery) and the Big Bear LS. They are all more comfortable and pokier on long rides than 20" e-folders.
