Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

Frantic mopeds made a horrible hornet sounding thing like that. I forget the real name. Fantic I think. But those things didn’t become another category of road vehicle when the kids took the restrictor out. They already were motor vehicles. It may well have invalidated their insurance though...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

Almost all cars are restricted to 155mph nowadays. Only a few so called supercars aren’t. But even the autobhans are increasingly speed restricted now….

    Selling my Kalkhoff ....£795

Have you thought of putting it on 50 Cycles second hand pages? Many of those bikes are very overpriced and this should sell easily. there. This is not a very good place to sell things really unless you’re practically giving them away. It’s quite a small forum. The evil eBay does reach a lot of...

    Curing a frame battery rattle

I put a velcro strap around it when I had a Chinese bottle battery. It stopped the risk of it jumping off on rough roads too.

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

I don’t think his motives are completely mercenary. I would say he is thinking of the greater good of pedelecs generally, as well as looking out for the interests of his employer and the industry. I don’t think you can say that the OP is interested in the longer term future of EAPCs. Let alone...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

I don’t want to be rude but that is one of the more childish posts I’ve seen on this thread. What you are really saying is “I want to do as I like and I don’t want to hear about the possible legal issues arising from it.” About the only appropriate anal response to that is a loud fart. But you...

    Bike insurance revisited

Yes, both they and CTC have similar fringe benefits. I couldn’t see at a quick glance whether British Cycling included pedelecs in their cover. I always thought they were more for the competitive cyclist too.

    Bike insurance revisited

CTC membership is £41 a year and £27 for over sixty fives. There are other benefits to membership as well.

    Bike insurance revisited

CTC will cover you for up to ten million pounds worth of liability to third parties if you have an accident on your bike free as an added benefit of membership. They include legal pedelecs in this but not anyone who rides his bike for a living like cycle couriers. You can also get other...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

Everyone should make informed choices in life. Many people though are not properly informed or have not thought through all the consequences of their actions. That’s true in all walks of life, and those people are then amazed when their actions, which seemed so trivial turn out to have a severe...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

You know I do struggle to understand how some people here can miss a point so spectacularly. It is not about speed it’s about illegality, and how that illegality is going to affect all e bike users eventually. Users of trail centres at first. I doubt that anyone here gives a monkey’s whether...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

They exist all right and some have posted on threads here at times. As have buyers of S pedelecs who didn’t realise their bikes were illegal to ride in the UK. Equally some buyers might know what dongles do but may well be completely unaware that they risk losing their driving license if...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

I suppose the question is what would the trail centre operators think of it? If they became aware of how easy it is to derestrict this kit, and that many, probably most users do change the settings, it becomes another reason to ban e MBs from their centres.

    New Woosh bike

Arse covering I expect. Why don’t you go into yours and see what it will let you set?

You’ve posted that question on three threads and I answered on one of them half an hour ago.

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

I expect we’ve all suffered from that happening nearby at one time or another. The police can’t deal with it because they would have to be there all the time and arrest loads of them, and the people who do it don’t care about the police, or the people they’re annoying. It’s totally illegal but...

Don’t think so. But that’s not to say it can’t happen.

    Woosh Santana CDL

Hold up and down arrows at the same time to get into the settings. You’ll find the speed setting there.

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

Not privy to the legal advice he received but I would imagine the person who gave it was qualified in the field. As to cars being capable of much greater speed, it isn’t really the same thing. The cars are legal as they are and using them in itself is not illegal. Only using them to their full...
