Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

Yes. I think the point really is that which KTM stated above and which was being discussed many pages back before this member’s issue came up. It seems to me that the dealer does offer a warranty with the stuff he sells, and if he is not doing enough in this instance - and assuming the poster is...

So what was not working properly? If it was not working at all he would not have ignored it. So what issue?

What was the problem exactly? Simple question and should be simple to answer.

No. They take on a life of their own and go the way they do just like birds flying the nest. Members can contribute to it or not as they like. It’s a free forum.

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

Threads don’t belong to an OP and can’t be hijacked. They are launched and then take on a life of their own. The only exception to that is a classified thread. When disparaging comments about the item or price asked are just rude.

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

KTM was simply repeating his unanswered question from another thread. Lots of other people have stuck their oars in here, as have I. But the OP has been notable for his complete absence from the thread once he was asked about his position regarding the legality of the devices he sells, and his...

Wasn’t d8veh a teacher once? I thought he said he was. The didactic impulse can’t be taken off like a coat. Greek meets Greek perhaps?

seeking advice choosing sub £1k very gutsy climber in Dutch style

Bit of a departure from what you are asking about in your OP. Meanwhile there are plenty of bikes that will do what you wanted there without going down the massive power route. Incidentally, at the risk of becoming boring you, and so many others new to this keep writing about off road speed...

seeking advice choosing sub £1k very gutsy climber in Dutch style

Lots of reviews of the BB here. Some very recent if you just go back a few pages. It will go up most hills with a little help I think. The modern BPM type motors are powerful.

    Choosing between these folding bikes?

You could fix an armchair to his bike and just use the throttle. It would probably do about thirty like that. Kudos and Woosh get good reviews here and have good customer service. Both are trade members of the forum.

I don’t think the dongle makes the motor more powerful. It just bypasses the cut out allowing the motor to run faster in a high gear. I assume the 350W versions use different controllers allowing more voltage to the motor. Whether something should or should not happen is all bit academic. But...

Replacement Kalkhoff 25.2v 18Ah battery options?

Left out an L. Look at the thread Electric e MBs Who Will Buy One on the top of the forum. He has posted on the last page and you can look him up or PM him from there.

It’s the way the warranty works. Basically it’s bicycle warranties, which because bikes were fairly easy to fix were held by the shop selling the bike. Now many ebikes are like small electric motor bikes, and people take them many miles away on holiday and abroad, but you are still stuck with...

Replacement Kalkhoff 25.2v 18Ah battery options?

I seem to remember tilson bought one from German eBay and was pleased with it. Try searching his posts.

I was thinking of that sort of reprogramming when I posted the above. But I don’t think e bikes will be likely to have the kind of accessible and reprogrammable ECU that cars do. Dealers can remap motors now, and Kalkhoff dealers certainly can change the cut out speed with a simple hand held...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

Yes, I know the King Meters are very common, and I had a bike with one once. But I still wonder if they could fall foul of the new regs which I thought effectively banned rider operated switches to change cut out speed. I would think it will become harder in time to change the cut out speed...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

I may be quite wrong here and please feel free to tell me if I am. But I thought the latest regulations made it a requirement that bikes should not be switchable by the rider to be able to go faster than the legal speed; and that the fitting of so called off road switches able to be accessed by...

Electric Mountain Bikes: No one will buy one?!..

If you read EddiePJ’s posts above all does not seem to be as sanguine as you think. I don’t use trial centres but he does, and he also enters organised MB events; and he says that from conversations he has had with trail centre owners and event organisers all eMBs are at risk of exclusion in the...

Hi - I need some help choosing a bike for my wife

Seems to be about the same weight as the Cytronex with more power and range. A 4ah battery won’t get you far if you use it much on hilly roads. So half as much again capacity would be useful. Also this one has an LCD which will allow you to control the power you want to use while the other is...

Hi - I need some help choosing a bike for my wife

Yes, I found an S200 kit which is more the thing. Seems to be about 2.8 kg total with a 6.8 ah battery. Seems to sell through eBay for around $800 + VAT and any duty. Actually the kit seems to be only available from a Chinese language site or direct, and the above doesn’t include the LCD...
