    Approved ebike list?

Stipes are rare beasts these days, a paid magistrate is usually a district judge. They should have a decent standard of legal training - unlike the clerks many of whom are clueless. But it's an awful lot of power to concentrate in the hands of an individual. A district judge is the only...

I think, on this occasion, we can rely on the accuracy of wiki: "While giving evidence at the trial of Stephen Ward, charged with living off the immoral earnings of Keeler and Rice-Davies, the latter made a famous riposte. When the prosecuting counsel pointed out that Lord Astor denied an...

    I had an accident... AGAIN!!!!

At best all the police can do is mount a criminal prosecution against the other driver, which does nothing to compensate the OP. If the other driver is insured, it is a simple matter to claim direct against his insurers. The police might provide the name of the insurance company, but it's...

Cost of winter/ice tyres killed it for me & why don't people help you when you fall?!

Bridges can be icy when the rest of the road is not, something to do with the air being able to circulate under the road surface. Another place to look out for is shaded areas under trees.

'Slowed and went round me' is a lot better than 'carried straight on and went over me'. Of course, it would have been better still if he had stopped.

    TV viewing tonight at 9pm

I rode Boris Bikes in London for a few days this summer and had very little bother. It was between the two Olympics and traffic generally was quiet, which I think made the difference. The average driver was less inclined to lose his temper when I weaved past him because his nerves had not been...

Bosch to the left of them, Bosch to the right....

I am a proper cyclist and I look down on him because he uses a battery. I use a battery, but I look down on him because he uses a throttle. I prefer to use a throttle to control my bike and I know my place.

Bosch to the left of them, Bosch to the right....

OK, in the interests of forum harmony, I'll answer Eddie's question. The throttle bike was a Fireblade.

Bosch to the left of them, Bosch to the right....

I like a throttle/pedal start, particularly in town. No chance of being bogged down and you've got some instant forward movement even if you are not ready with a down stroke. Wrong gear for starting off is not such a problem. I rarely need to change gear in town, unless the start is on...

Bosch to the left of them, Bosch to the right....

I've tried both an Impulse and a Kalkhoff Bosch - neither provides anything like the instant go you get with a throttle.

Why don't we make bikes in the UK any more.

There is a tiny market for £2K plus bikes in the UK. If the market was as big as in Germany, there would be a greater chance of a UK maker filling it. Brompton is a bit more than a niche maker, they succeed mostly because there are plenty of customers wanting to pay them £1K for a bike.

    Hello Everyone I`m new.

A small wheeled bike - electric or not - is not much fun on cinder or gravel tracks. My Brompton folder - 16" wheels - is a great bike, but hopeless on anything other than hard asphalt. A lot of other folders, including electric ones, have bigger wheels so should be better off-road...
