    Tyre pressures

In my youth I always found grams to be a poor measurement in smaller quantities. Ounces and half ounces and quarters were much better.

    Tyre pressures

The walls of Marathon Plus tyres are quite stiff and can lead the inexperienced to believe they are at a good pressure when they’re not if relying on the finger and thumb test. I’m a bit surprised the OPs says that they can take up to 115 psi. Mine have up to 85 psi on the sidewall. 115psi is a...

    Giant Replacement

I was looking for this formula again the other day but a search didn’t turn it up. It would be a good idea if it was a sticky on the classified section.

    Guilty feelings

I used to be tactful when I passed other bikes when I rode my road trainers around Hertfordshire for many years too. There are many roadies around there and some were weaker then me and some were very strong. So some like me would say a pleasant ‘morning’ and ease pass, and some would look at...

    Guilty feelings

Yes. There aren’t many cyclists around here particularly in the winter. But there is one bloke I see occasionally and when I saw him cranking slowly uphill ahead of me the other week I did stop to take my water break and let him go. I didn’t want to take the pi*s.

    What a blinking good idea!

Are they indicators then? I can’t see anything apart from the mirrors. Pity you didn’t make the gloves though..... Trouble with editing posts long after is that it makes replies like the above meaningless.

    Helmet mirror or handlebar mirror

The Mirrycle has a good field of view and it doesn’t vibrate as much as some. So you can pick out your would be killer in the distance as he races toward you and prepare to jump into a hedge if necessary

Charging ahead: the electric bike revolution has arrived in Britain - E-bikes in the Telegraph

Nice free promo for Woosh. A very definite result. What is the GoCycle bloke on about? We are just about to come in line with EU regs and he says he can’t sell it there because of different regulation. Is it 350w for the US market? At that money I can think of many bikes I’d rather have than...

    Helmet mirror or handlebar mirror

The Mirrycle is good and robust and stays in place over a period of time. No constant fiddling once it’s set right. One of my better purchases.

    GBP/EUR

I wrote to a couple of dealers in Germany who were happy to send bikes to the UK, but Derby Cycles told me that the warranty would remain with the German dealer. It’s the idea of having to send it back for a fault which would put me off.

    GBP/EUR

It’s possible to have a fault where the bike has to go back to the dealer though. It would cost a bit to send it to Germany fully insured. I agree about seeing some offers at least to reflect the Euro fall.

bbs01, cyclone or none at all?

My point really. Lycra or not if you are interested in maximum energy transfer to the cranks then TS might well be more to your taste than a sort of low speed motor bike.

bbs01, cyclone or none at all?

I would have thought SPD made you a lycra man in that analogy. I use them as well but I used to wear lycra on my road bikes years ago too, and used Look system pedals then. But I only wear lycra padded shorts under rugby shorts now so that doesn’t count. Maybe he should update it to clipless...

bbs01, cyclone or none at all?

Up until recently most bikes with TS control were European. German and Austrian mainly. But there are a couple of Chinese made ones now including kits I believe. Trex will know about them. I think they may be CD rather than hub though. There are plenty of threads here about the differences...

bbs01, cyclone or none at all?

Efficiency translates into performance and range. A 36v 10ah battery is 360 wh. So therefore 20 miles at 18 wh/per mile will exhaust it. Hilly terrain or going fast - you spoke of trying to keep to 20mph - will use more from the battery. I don’t know how much a hub will use at that speed but...

    my first electric bike????

That’s practically the definition of someone who could have an argument alone in a locked room. Or even padded room maybe.

Kalkhoff Pro Connect 2009, lost battery lock key. Numbet is known

I got a duplicate key from the AXA site. They’ve been selling those frame locks for a very long time so it’s a bit surprising that the key number isn’t recognised since the battery key is the same as the frame lock key where fitted. I have a frame lock on mine and before I realised I could get...
