50 CYCLES A WARNING no quibble guarentee

What kind of drop outs does yours have? Are they not the forward facing about 30 degree downwards inclined kind? I was only talking about hub gear models of course. The derailleur ones have vertical drop outs obviously.

HELP - Can not tighten RHS crank arm - Kalkhoff Endeavor ???

I agree with you, with the proviso that it is useful to have low gears and high gears if you live in a very hilly area but want to go fast on the flat bits too. That means one more gear than an 8 speed really at least, if you’re to keep a very low once in a blue moon gear. But 10 speed isn’t the...

HELP - Can not tighten RHS crank arm - Kalkhoff Endeavor ???

Tend to agree. I like the Pro Connect 9 and tried it out before Christmas. Unlike some of the above I thought the shift technology worked really well and gear changes could be done swiftly and without crunches. But it was let down by the forks and smaller battery. While the 10 speed chain on the...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

I am. A near neighbour bought one over ten years ago, bear in mind that I live in a very hilly area. I saw him trying to get it up the hill to where he lives and he was not favourably impressed. He said it was a fcuking joke in fact. It went into an outbuilding, and for all I know it’s still there.

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

Yes, that was what I thought about the Chinese bikes. Powerful hub drives maybe? It’s probably about the well aired difference between crank drive and hub drive, and torque sensor and speed sensor too. If you’re used to a speed sensor hub drive bike it’s probably a bit of a shock having to pedal...

What bike did you buy KM? As I posted earlier most Impulse motored bikes are very good on hills.

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

KMG440 The ASA is not a court of law. They and Trading Standards were up 50 Cycles arses a little while ago over a more serious matter of S pedelecs being sold in a possibly misleading way. I believe another dealer put them on to it. He wanted the sale of S pedelecs stopped, but the ASA has no...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

I can’t see anything there offering a money back guarantee. As has been said above it’s just a no quibble guarantee, and they didn’t quibble when they sent her a new £800 battery when it fell out onto the road. Can you point me to where it offers an unconditional money back guarantee? Wander...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

I think 50 Cycles posted on youtube that they replaced the battery which fell out without any quibble. Though they pointed out that it was clearly not put in properly. So after much probing I think we have identified the real reason she wants to back out of buying it. Which is that the bike...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

With respect. If you took that to mean that you could have them send you a bike to try out for a couple of weeks, and then be able send it back because you decided you didn’t want it after all, then you were a little naive. That is unreasonable whatever it is that is bought. Goods can be...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

So is it the case that you bought it on the basis that you could try it and then send it back and get a refund if you didn’t like it? If so I can understand why 50 Cycles have changed the wording because IMO no reasonable person would expect to be able to do that.

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

Yes, that’s what I meant by not expecting to use something and then send it back and get a full refund. Woosh for instance offers a 28 day money back guarantee too. But if you read the small print it, like 50 Cycles says the bike has to be sent back in the same condition as it arrived, with the...

Slight concern over Kalkhoff / 50cycles / Focus posts

Yes. It is unreasonable to expect to be able to just send things back on a whim and get a full refund unless there is something seriously wrong with it. Amazon allows it, but that is their customer policy and it works for them. They don’t have to.

Slight concern over Kalkhoff / 50cycles / Focus posts

In my experience if you start out looking for problems with a company you will find lots of bad reviews. It’s human nature to only post a review when you are unhappy, and far more people do that than post them when they’re happy. Amazon is an exception in this as it’s very easy to review things...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

Yes, but he starts by saying that it turned out not to be as good as expected. I may be wrong here but it sounds like it was his first go on an e bike and he expected it to be more like a motorbike and not to have to pedal. The technical issue, if that is all there is to it is easily resolvable...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

Sounds like they didn’t get the chance because the OP, perhaps for other reasons wanted a refund. Hence the impasse.

    Batteries

I rather like the longer wheelbase which comes with a behind the seatpost battery. It makes for a very stable and comfortable ride which I prefer to a twitchy - sling it around - road bike nowadays.

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

Not sure any company will offer a full refund on anything at all after it’s been used for a month. You are covered by distance selling regs and can return unused goods for up to two weeks now for a full refund, and the goods have to be of marketable quality. Best to try to get the issue...

    Warranties

Not sure what they moved or where it went. But it’s just one of life’s little mysteries. Threads like this are less long lived than chip paper anyway. Tomorrow it will all have vanished into the past, never to be seen again.

    Warranties

Not sure what this is doing here. I posted it on the Kalkhoff thread and the mods say they moved some posts from that. Don’t know why they moved it here though because it is apropos of nothing on this thread.
