    Batteries

If you’re interested why not post a poll and we can give our opinions? I think they are fairly dated looking but they do have a certain charm. But I ride a Kalkhoff Agattu which is equally not a conventional looker. I find it a handsome beast though, and it reminds me of a WW1 destroyer or...

    Warranties

Search KTMs posts on this subject. He is the importer and also deals with Bosch. He has said many times here that Bosch will not honour a warranty if a dongle has been used, and that they can detect its use when they interrogate the software. He does not see eye to eye with some dealers over...

    Warranties

I had a duff 17ah battery just before Christmas too. So since it seemed to be that size which was giving problems and all at about the same time, it may have been a faulty batch. I had to do a 300 mile round trip to Bristol to change it because they wouldn’t send it out saying that their...

You can programme the software to cut the motor at a higher speed by putting a smaller wheel size into it using the dealer device. Which they may lend you. They did lend them out so you could update the software on some bikes, but they may not now if the software on your bike is up to date. It...

50 CYCLES A WARNING no quibble guarentee

I remember reading about your problems with the axle pulling foward in the dropouts, and that same thing happened with my Agutta. I fixed it with a Batavus chain pull from Holland Cycles costing a couple of quid. They’ve changed the design on the later ones which are now belt drive. But the...

Impulse 1.0 drive feels a bit rough and grainy going up hill

I replaced my chain at 1500 miles on my Impulse 1. I live in a hilly area and it was worn by then. I’ve always believed in replacing chains in good time and saving on more expensive cassettes and sprockets before the chain wear does them in too.

Richard Branson loving his electric bike

Samuel Smiles book Self Help was very popular with Thatcher’s followers thirty years ago. They were always quoting it. But nobody ever quoted the words on the preface. “Someone who cares only for the shilling may well become a rich man. But he will remain a very poor fellow.”

Yes, I wrote that and then deleted it because I hadn’t read the point about the dropout position. Plenty of people have put 18 T sprockets on these bikes though, and I haven’t read about anyone needing a pulley tensioner. So there’s probably enough room in the dropouts to get it right. I was...

http://en.hollandbikeshop.com/branded-bicycle-parts/batavus-bicycle-parts/batavus-chain-tensioner/batavus-chain-tensioner-45mm-bolt-30mm/ The problem with this design is that the extra power from the motor and the cyclist’s input pulls the chain forward in the dropouts on the drive side...

    Two wheel invalid carriages again

He’s just an immature dickhead and really not worth bothering about. The more you get annoyed the more pleasure he gets from it. As someone posted just after his first effort: Dont feed the troll.

Well, as he writes sprocket I assume he has a chain - the belt drives are from the 2015 model I think. One thing that is certain though is that he posted this, his first post, and hasn’t come back to read the answers......

BMW Cruise e Bike - any good?

I’ve always had a lot of time for BMW flat twins. I can’t speak for the later ‘oilhead’ versions, but the only thing you could quibble about on the bikes was a slightly clunky gearbox. They were expensive bikes and built for long legged all day riding not blasting about on twisty roads like so...

    kalkhoff agutta

If you change to an 18 tooth rear sprocket it will have the effect of almost exactly moving all the gears up one. So the new 1st will become almost the same as 2nd is now at 30.5” instead of your current 2nd of 32”, and 8th will become 93.7” instead of the current 80.2”. So any intermediate gear...

    Finally took the plunge

Well, some people in cities have to book a week in advance for a GP appointment. So the only way they can be seen if it’s urgent is through an A&E department. But one of the biggest drivers of A&E visits in England is the lack of joined up old people’s care. Because the hospital budget is...

    Finally took the plunge

Probably from the days when people put saddle bags full of sand on their road trainers and just went out and rode. Those ideas went out of the window over twenty years or so ago, and it’s been all about repetition of high effort in phases or sets since. Similar to weight training sets - mixed...

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect Impulse 9 / 10 (9-G/10-G)

The cells may well be the same on some of the better Chinese bikes but the quality of construction and the engineering and sophistication in the batteries is different. I don’t think any Chinese batteries are guaranteed for two years like Kalkhoff, and many Kalkhoff batteries are still going...

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect Impulse 9 / 10 (9-G/10-G)

The Lexham cycle recovery scheme is only £15 a year. So worth looking at. I keep a list of local taxi firms too since my other half doesn’t drive and can’t pick me up. The Pro Connect is a normal bike apart from the mid motor which is usually very reliable. So any bike site will give you...
