    Solar battery charging for ebikes.

Cells in P esp decent 10a ones will be fine at 3a but one wuld have to limit solar wattage to 100/120w panels, somethin like Matts set up that uses 300w + @ 36v is going to be pushing 8a or so. What one has to be careful with is the charge connector type and rating. A generic commonly used one...

    Solar battery charging for ebikes.

Even using two batteries, I wouldn't sacrifice one just for the sake of it. The sums have to match up for the cell spec chargerate other wise a fairly costly solar set up will also become a costly battery replacement issue. For offgrid or touring charging it has to make sense to do it vs the...

Speed Signal connection vs Throttle connection

Speed signal is largely redundant unless one doesn't have internal speed sensor, it is for an exterior spoke magnet and speed sensor the White wire indicating the speed signal. It is used should the internal Hall sensor fail or the magnet becomes unstuck or as mentioned one has no internal sensor.

Front hub conversion on vintage delivery bike. Battery suggestions and best motor query

The kinstar with 35e is only 3 parallelc cells so the max controller current need to be idealy no more then 12a, although an 8a rated cell they won't last very long above 4a discharge each. Once above 4a discharge as with any good cell onec one goes past the magical 50% discharge rate they will...

    Solar battery charging for ebikes.

Reading Matt's reply reguarding current supply, I wouldn't want to be charging my cells much above 3a for cycle life and longevity, so sounds like small size panels are the answer for low current but then one will be waiting an age for charging directly. The answer may be a storage battery but...

    Carrera crosscity bike power problem

Certainly a power supply issue with the wiring or battery docking connection. One will have to carry out some fault finding to ascertain where the issue is.

keen and enthusiastic, but rubbish. :-)

The controller type is a speed controller so max current is given nearly all the time, more so at very low speed in all 3 speed assist levels. If one wants more control then the electrics need swapping out for a KT set up. Brake wise for cut outs one needs a reed (open circuit )switch that...

    Yose power 36V 250W 6km/h limit

Not a KT controller with a c500 so more likely it is a Lishui lsw controller. They will set for 6km/h as that is the legal position for their use, download a c500 manual via search and see if there are any settings that can be changed.

I would stop throwing money at the project now and call it a day, you have spent money on a donkey and tried your best.

    Battery repair Kit

I had an original kit about 5/6 years ago with the stainless fittings, I found contact was an issue and balance wasn't great. The compression/contact was the main issue thought they now have upgraded the kit with compression bolts to bolt the two sides together. The improved current flow with...

If the company doesn't reply, I assume AliExp will step in an issue a refund. I have had a couple of refunds on smaller purchases in the past.

why is this even up for debate?

Ben you have pointed out as I often see as well, road craft/road postioning in the large is very poor. A lot of drivers forget they are on public roads and not a race track, it isn't about taking the shortest route to shave 2 thous or a lap time. I encountered a cyclist at Wooton A25 last...

why is this even up for debate?

With latter of the second topic, I wonder if in his arrogance the guy will contest his prosecution and appeal ? If so he may be digging him self an even bigger hole to get out of.

why is this even up for debate?

A lot of cars now have camera's as do motorcycles so why not the cyclist, I beleive they are a safety deterrent if noticed. However the cases make headlines and it should make drivers sit up and take notice, yes it is hard if one is prosecuted to be at fault and is criminilised for a close pass...

Front hub conversion on vintage delivery bike. Battery suggestions and best motor query

I think the best thing is to get the bike road worthy first, then think about a kit. I know it means messing with the front wheel twice, though one can buy a built rim reasonably on ebay as used. Pics of the fork drop out as the bike is old, it may even need new forks ?
