Or how about enough spoke for 1.333333333 wheels? ;)

    More battery charging...

Did I read somewhere on here that the Panasonic system has an upper and lower voltage cut off which keeps the charge content always in-between the 20 and 80 percent level? I have tried searching for it but can’t find it. I’m sure I have heard this said somewhere though.

    Rohloff Speedhub

I have had this happen, but it was my fault for not tightening the nuts to the correct torque. I gave them what I thought was plenty of pressure on the socket wrench, but the sprocket side moved forwards whilst going up an incline. After tightening the nuts to the recommended 45 NM, I have...

Query re purchasing a bike of value >£1000 limit on Cycle to Work scheme

Hello Icicle19 and welcome to the forum. It would appear from the link that you posted that it is not possible to exceed £1000 on the value of the bike. That must be a feature of Cycle to Work Scheme. My employer used Cycle Scheme and that does allow you to contribute towards a higher...

    Rohloff Speedhub

Thanks Fecn, that looks a very nice installation job. I wondered if you had run the cables through the frame. I have dropped the motor off my Pro Connect in order thread a lighting cable through the frame, so I should be able to follow the line of the Nexus cable if I decide to use one of these...

    Rohloff Speedhub

Thanks for the quick responses. The NuVinci looks interesting and I am reading a bit more about the hub here. My initial concerns are size, weight and the variable ratios. I don't know if I could get used to not having set gear ratios. Did the twist grip and control cables fit onto your bike...

    Rohloff Speedhub

This is what I was also wondering. I won't know until I have used a bike with one fitted I suppose. My thoughts are that it will give me more flexibility in terms of hill climbing and downhill speed.

    Rohloff Speedhub

I have been considering a few ideas for a new rear wheel build and come across a gear hub called a Rohlhoff (speedhub 500/14). These seem quite expensive, but have a wide range of gear ratios. Does anyone have experience of this type of gear? Durability, longevity, parts availability / support...

    Raising the Handlebars

John, I'm fairly sure that you can't raise the Pro Connect bars as you describe. They sort of rotate about the horizontal bolt which goes through the disc with degrees marked on it. The 50C website forum has a video showing you how to adjust them.

    Best Customer Service Example

I don't want to hijack this thread with my wheel problems, there has been enough said within that thread. However, I think that 50 Cycles should be approaching Derby Cycles on behalf of their customers as they will have more clout and that would be good PR / customer service. I think we are...

    Wisper Police bike image

Well said SEATALTEA. There are too many people ready to jump on the Police Bashing Bandwagon these days. I would think that most of their critics would be cowering gibbering wrecks if they had to confront some of the situations that police officers do. It is absolutely pathetic that they then...

    Alfine all fine?

I took two links out when changing to an 18 T sprocket as I thought it was a bit too slack with one removed. When in 4th gear, have you set the two yellow markers together on the rear hub? If you look down on the hub on the chain side, you will see a window. In 4th, the two yellow lines...

Pro C Nexus Hub clinking and clanking

John, is the noise there all the time on every outing or is it intermittent? Also, is there a ring to the noises that you experience? Last one, how many miles have you done and what power setting do you usually use? I'm just trying to establish if you and I are experiencing the same thing...

Pro C Nexus Hub clinking and clanking

It’s still under guarantee, I think. Unless the 2 year guarantee is only on the electrical bits for a Kalkhoff? With it being one of those intermittent type faults, it always makes it difficult to demonstrate the fault to the dealer. I don’t want to cast aspersion, but my experience of...

Pro C Nexus Hub clinking and clanking

This sounds plausible, but like you, I don’t know a great deal about the construction of these hub gears. I would be disappointed if water had found its way into the hub because I would have thought that it could be sealed better than that. I haven’t taken the bike anywhere but on public roads...

Pro C Nexus Hub clinking and clanking

I occasionally experience the symptoms that you describe. There doesn’t seem to be any pattern to it and it goes away after a while. It does sound awful when it does happen though. I’m not sure what’s going off in there but it doesn’t sound pretty! I did have a problem with gear selection in...
