    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

Tyres make a big difference too. If he's using MB tyres the rolling resistance on the road is considerable. A MB I had a couple of years ago was almost as fast on the flat as my old road trainers when fitted with good road tyres pumped up to 85 psi. It was a fair bit heavier than them too.

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

With our narrow bike tracks shared with pedestrians and dogs, speeds of 20 mph would be bloody dangerous I should think. You have to remember that if it's a bike it can use bike facilities. Which in this country are designed by people who think bikes go at not much more than walking pace. My...

    What is a pedelec

Used to ride around flat eastern England a lot. Has to be a lot of wind to be as hard work as steep hills. Where I live now it's steep hills and wind. Hasn't stopped blowing off the Irish Sea for weeks.

    Newbie from Cornwall

I've got a Mirrycle one which fits into the handlebar ends. It's robust and easy to adjust and was a good buy.

He seems to be missing in action. You could try a PM. He may be monitoring them and respond.

One step away from buying - Oxydrive CST HT 13Ah or Woosh

From your post I don't think you have ridden any e bikes, and if it was me I would go and do that first. You can get an idea of what the different kinds of motors can do and which works best for the job you want it to do. As to the claims made for milage. All the manufacturers and dealers are...

    Very flat, Holland.

    What is a pedelec

I agree it would be nice to get the weight down. I pedal past the cut off on the few flat bits where I live all the time but the moment the road goes slightly uphill the 25 kgs are really noticeable and the speed drops to assist pretty quickly. Something around the 15 kg and you really could...

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

I think it's been established over quite a few threads even since I've been on this forum that KudosDave is right. Flecc, who has taken knowledge on these things, has written on several occasions that there is no possible mechanism to register an s pedelec in the UK and for it to remain...

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

If I wear a helmet it's because I want to not because I'm told to, and if it's a hot day and I don't want to I won't. So more regulation? No thanks. As to compulsory rider testing and registration. I can't think of anything more likely to kill pedelecs stone dead.

Speed limit on high end e-bikes

Have you been following the legal e bike threads? There's one running right now. Personally I don't find it hard to pedal my Agattu well past the cut off on the flat. Once it's up and rolling it keeps going and then when the road rises the speed comes off quickly until just below 17 mph when...

How to ship e-bike lithium batteries within the UK?

Yes I had one sent from Woosh in the summer too, and sent the old non working one back in the same packaging. But this dealer is saying that they can't send them out at all. I'll look at the links.

How to ship e-bike lithium batteries within the UK?

I'm reviving this thread because I have a battery which will need to go back to the dealer and he tells me that it isn't possible to ship batteries anymore unless they are attached to the bike. But the post above that I'm quoting seems to say that you could as of last year, as long as you...

Raleigh Dover Electric Assist Bike 2012

Maybe I've been unlucky but I've had two battery problems with two different bikes in the last six months. You read about people who have reliable bikes and don't have any electrical problems for years but it hasn't been my experience.

    Convert my Rockhopper help

Actually it is unless you are using it on private land with no public access. It's still a common mistake to think that legal is only applicable to public roads and cycleways, even if the real situation is reiterated on sites like this one. I'm not trying to tell you what you can and can't do...

    Kalkhoff battery lights fault?

Not sure how that works really. I wonder how accurate it is? I suppose there will always be some duff batteries though. I had a bad one with my last bike too - not a Kalkhoff - and that was supposed to have been very unusual. I rang 50 Cycles and they have to get some sort of okay from Kalkhoff...

    Kalkhoff battery lights fault?

My battery lights are doing exactly the same after riding with some lights on and the next one up flashing. Like charging in reverse. I'm surprised the leds would drain it though, I didn't think they took any power to speak of. I'll get back to 50 Cycles pronto though. Thanks for your info.

    Kalkhoff battery lights fault?

Thanks Blew it. If it's a known fault then I assume they will do the same. Did they say if it was likely to cause any issues other than inconvenience? Someone here posted once about a British Kalkhoff forum but I've never found one. In fact searches for Kalkhoff alway come back to this forum or...

    Kalkhoff battery lights fault?

Yes a couple of people have posted along those lines but I don't know if it has put anyone here off or if it's just a seasonal slowdown in interest. The off road thread was very active for a while but isn't now for instance, and not too many members are using their massively powered pedalless...

    Kalkhoff battery lights fault?

Anyone had anything similar happen to their battery? Doesn't have to be a Kalkhoff one. On the face of it could be minor but it might indicate something major. BTW it seems pretty quiet around here at the moment. Right now there are well over twice as many bots on the site as members.....
