I wonder how you're getting on. best wishes.

Stupid question - speed sensor on front or rear wheel?

I always keep it at the rear wheel. It will work up to an inch apart.

new to e bikes advise please

No, not when you are heavy. Crank drives excel on speed (if you derestrict your bike), a big hub motor gives you better torque and acceleration up to about 20mph (if you derestrict your bike) and are better at traffic lights.

new to e bikes advise please

geoff, you need big motor for hills + your weight, big motor needs big battery. The next price up is the Ezee Torq Mk3. That will be around £1400. You can't get a German bike with big motor and big battery for less than £1500 (Kalkhoff Xion 24). The cheapest big motor + big battery is the...

    Had a nice ride today

possibly. The xiongda is a fair bit lighter, a lot stealthier, can easily run on a 9/10AH bottle without fear of killing the bottle.

    Had a nice ride today

d8veh did say that saneagle's BPM can climb faster than the xiongda though. The xiongda XD is similar to a crank drive without having to suffer derailleur noise.

    batribike

am I right in thinking that Ralph Coulson who runs batribike also runs BEBA?

    Had a nice ride today

both of them rode the same route, same speed, same 36V, either saneagle is 3st lighter or sportier, or the extra grease in the xiongda motor may have turned 2AH into heat over 3 hours of biking. Saneagle: 9.45WH/mile, d8veh: 11.25WH/mile. Not bad really.

What would you do with this donor bike?

the basket is a very good idea for stealth, only the extra light bikes from annad would beat it for styling. How would you stop water ingress and how will you secure the battery box? lock it to the base of the front basket?

What would you do with this donor bike?

a basket may be a tad cheaper than a bottle or a rear rack battery - if you use a front basket, you'd have to tell XOFO to prepare the cables to your length. The Woosh TS uses the same Lishui 14A controller built into the base of the bottle carrier as on their Sport CD, the output of the torque...

    batribike

I am not convinced that they are that popular. Batribikes are sold at about 100 dealerships, a bit like Powacycles. I would say that Powacycles (Ultima Networks PLC) are more sold than batribike. The company behind Batribike is Fallogate Limited (No. 06429164 16/11/2007). You can look up its...

XOFO XFL kit, bottle battery but with new hydraulic brakes.

    Torque Sensor bike with Panieers?

the Woosh Sport TS has PAS. I don't know if the PAS is used for soft starting the Sport TS or it would still work without. Andy @ Woosh would know about it. If you use the split PAS disc, it would be quite easy to fit:

    Torque Sensor bike with Panieers?

machiavelous me? where does this come from?

Too many options in my mind, but... any good?

if you can get the Fast4Ward Peak for 900 Euro locally, go for it. Try it first to make sure you like it though.

    Torque Sensor bike with Panieers?

DIYers can't afford SGS fees. You still can register a domain, make yourself a certificate of conformity by the name on the domain and EN15194 sticker with that web address on the sticker. I think it's legit, as long as nobody wants to take you to Court.

    Torque Sensor bike with Panieers?

apparently motor makers have their motor certified for EN15194 compliance (ie 250W), same as Bosch did with their motors, none of the Bosch bikes have their bikes tested for motor power, so they can give the certificate to the factories that assemble e-bikes. The factory can then claim that...

    Torque Sensor bike with Panieers?

you are right, arbol. The devil is in the details. I agree the XFL kit is great for a minimalist approach.

Time to buy a new e-bike

I don't think one system is more reliable than the other. The weaknesses of hub motors are obvious: broken cable where the cable exits the motor shaft, broken gear wheels, stuck clutch, gear noise. The weaknesses of crank motors are also obvious: sprag clutch, bottom bracket bearings, worn...

    Torque Sensor bike with Panieers?

the motor in the Woosh Sport TS is the XFK with freewheel and torque sensor. XOFO make the same with cassette, you only have to specify it. The only problem is low power. The XFK has the range of 250W-350W, same as the XF08C from MXUS (both companies abbreviate their company name to XOFO, very...
