    Battery Breakthrough?

there seems to be over capacity in China at the moment judging by the amount of junk mail I get from Chinese battery companies! Oxis seem to be the one in with a good chance to win the lottery.

Transporting your e-bike, any cheap option?

I think you are not allowed to carry e-bikes on the roof of your car, normal bikes, yes, e-bikes, no.

    Flykly smart wheel on kickstarter

This product is dead. They have already moved to develop the next product - an e-bike that never needs a charger, because it gets its energy from the rider. More fool their supporters. flyky is already absorbed into ZeHus. The way the team at ZeHus go about this, I reckon they are not producing...

Not true. The Ezee have 20A controller, Big Bear has 17A Lishui controller. The new BMS avoids battery sagging on hills.

Haibike amt pro. First impressions? ;)

As soon as the guy breaks the threadlock, he'll know which way to turn the Allen key. It's true that if the guy did not replace the threadlock then he's pretty useless.

    Lithium-ion 18650 cells £1.00 each. Cardiff

measuring internal resistance of the cells as a mean to grading the cells in order of how much you can pull from them? you would need a calibrated load resistor. I assume you can use a 20W 1 Ohm resistor http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Vishay-Dale-RER50F1R00R-1-Ohm-20W-Aluminum-Resistor-/200941325868...

    New Battery or new bike.

if you can't find the right casing, it may be more straightforward to get a rear rack battery, something like this smaller one of the two for about £200:

    Advice for a heavy rider

I guess the Big Bear will climb 15% on throttle alone with the new BMS. That was previously only possible with the CD.

    Advice for a heavy rider

Woosh upgraded all their BMS this year to high discharge rate (20A for 10AH, 28A for 15AH battery), basically let more current through the motor when climbing hills. Last year, the BMS was set to 15A for 10AH, 20A for 15AH batteries. The motor winding on the Big Bear remains same.

    What about facts and figures?

the contentious area is in advising members which bike to buy. D8veh gave an example yesterday, If this member walks into a shop, which one of these two replies is more likely? 'buy a Big Bear on the internet' or 'you need to up your budget to £2k and I have a Kalkhoff here that'll do it very...

    What about facts and figures?

Tom, there have been recently a few threads about advice for heavy riders with hills to cope with. You know as well as I know that Ezee and BPM motors are best for this situation. How come most e-bike shops don't stock them? more than half the space in bike shops I've been to is given to sporty...

    What about facts and figures?

perhaps they should be more interested, or instead of getting the best bike for their needs and budget, they may be sold what the store wants to push. The forum has saved members a lot of money. The reason that the forum gets more technical is an indication that it's moving in the right direction.
