    What about facts and figures?

Most of the technical debates are around which bikes are best for hills. Until the beginning of 2013, crank drives, led by Bosch, are considered as most 'torquy', thus the only choice for hilly terrains. Since Kudos started selling 8-Fun BPM bikes (the Arriba and the Tornado), there has been a...

    What about facts and figures?

I usually read quite a bit of the specs of your non electric bikes on the internet and must say, love them. Recently, Mitsubishi runs a new advert for their plug in hybrid SUV. The ad is a lot more technical than the average car ad and the webpage also leans a lot more towards providing...

    What about facts and figures?

Not everyone is technical but numerical information helps fair comparisons. Like this one: http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/outlander/explore-phev.aspx Without numbers, some sales staff will relie on emotional blackmail to push sales.

    What about facts and figures?

you mean motor make and model, battery capacity and controller Amp rating? Most German bikes are fitted with Bosch kits - those all have the same performance. Most sellers of Chinese made bikes disclose only battery capacity, leaving the question of performance to be interpreted by the shop...

    Advice for a heavy rider

The CDL is a little faster if desrestricted but I think the Big Bear is better for you. Much more relaxed ride, less worry about selecting the right gear.

What has happened to the variety?

over the last three years, cheapies become more capable, that explains why many more are buying cheapies. Brands are nearly totally dominated by Bosch kits, much sameness except for superficial styling, so little new to talk about.

What has happened to the variety?

members who come up with questions or looking for advice are usually prepared to buy on the internet. Brands like Batribike, Wisper (now Freego), R&M.. are sold by shops. Maybe there are more internet sales than before. Maybe people who buy from shops don't see the need to join the forum.

    Battery, inside or outside?

you can always get one of those neoprene bottle covers for your battery. If you bring the battery in, use the cover to protect the pins.

    Battery, inside or outside?

temperature is not too much of a concern, humidity is. You need to protect your battery (and electronics) against rain water.

    Hi All!

don't be tempted by discount, it could mean that they can't shift the stock. You basically pay £600 for the components and £600 for styling. Simple rule: if you pay roughly only for street value of the components then it's OK to buy untested but if you pay premium price for technology or design...

    Advice for a heavy rider

you can stall the CDL motor on hills, that's what they are worried about. This said, the CDL can climb 15% hill on first or second gear with your weight. The CDL has only 7 gears, disregard plot for gear 8. It can climb 15% gradient on throttle at 6mph on gear 1. You have to pedal on gear 2 but...

    Advice for a heavy rider

I think Woosh encourage heavy riders to buy the Big Bear because Big Bear has better torque on roads under 10% gradient (the yellow load line) and does not wear the chain. To work out how much you have to pedal, select the desired speed, then follow up vertically on the plots. If the motor...

Folding bike - Kudos Secret vs Woosh Zephyr CD vs Other?

among 20" folders, the Pacific has the neatest fold, all bikes with middle fold are about as clumsy as one another. That's because the wheels are difficult to keep parallel when you wheel the bikes around either holding the saddle, or holding the stand that is welded to the bottom bracket. The...

Folding bike - Kudos Secret vs Woosh Zephyr CD vs Other?

the need for a bigger chainring is addressed in the Zephyr by using a hub gear, like in the Bromptons. It's rare to see a folding e-bike design improving so fast. The Zephyr CDN is probably the folding bike with the most pleasant power delivery, comfort and uncluttered wiring. Most Woosh bikes...
