Who has a telly these days? All you get is propaganda in just about every programme. It's now even found its way into football and David Attenborough's wild life programmes. I can categorically say that I haven't seen any TV since last Xmas, and that was only because I was staying at someone...

    Need a new controller

All controllers are essentially the same regarding working the motor, though there are lots of options for different features. To guide you to a suitable solution, we'd need to see every connector and wire attached to the controller rather than a tangled mess. Also, we'd need to see what...

Rear hub motor recommendations for cycle courier bike

It's the same motor, they just changed their designations. Bafang make two versions of each of the BPM and CST. One is 250w/350w and the other is 500w. The 500w one has thicker wire in the windings and can handle a lot more power. It's very hard to tell the difference from the outside or from a...

Rear hub motor recommendations for cycle courier bike

The CST is the cassette (free-hub) version of the BPM. When the BPM was developed, Bafang didn't make any cassette motors. the CST was the first, and it was a revelation at the time. These motors can easily cope with 25 amps at 48v. I've built a few bikes with it. One was for a guy with only...

What is there to protect? The guy made a mistake and corrected it! Now he gets a bit of free advertising for being such a considerate and ethical seller.

Here's the story as I remember it. OP gave a link to the Ebay ad below asking if 350w was legal in the UK because he said he had seen an ad that stated that it was legal. The amended ad is here...

Sorry to hear that. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Cuts out under load, 52v battery shows 57v fully charged.

What’s the total voltage from the cells and what's the voltage on the output teminals? What's the same? The output voltage can't because you gave 3 or 4 different values before.

Help! Best kit for hilly area for 16 stone and incredibly weak leg muscles

The Xiongda 2-speed has one weakness. The double clutch arrangement doesn't work very well when you push the bike backwards. When it sticks, you get massive torque multiplication to the gears, which breaks something if you keep pushing. It's fine as long as you don't continue to push the bike...

Stamped 350w, it isn't; however, the 350w and 250w are identical apart from the marking, so you might be able to argue that it is legal as long as you set the current to 15 amps and the speed to 15.5 mph. The other way round, if you took the 15amp 250w BBS01 and set the current to 18 amps, it...

    Bike Locks

It's not never. I think the last time was about three years ago. I knew some sleuth was going to comment on that. It's one of the hazards of using a Samsung phone to take your photos. It shows too much detail. Interestingly, when I posted the photo, I started looking over the photo of the bike...

Can I swap battery from my old bike into new bike (both are 36v lithium)?

The clutch just slides off, but it's often tight. A two or three-legged puller helps. I sometimes lever them off with two large spanners on opposite sides. It's solid metal so shouldn't get damaged.

    Review MiRider One

Hmmm! This is interesting. Clearly, it's the same frame, wheels, motor and a lot of other stuff. The main obvious difference is that the Onebot has a slightly larger capacity battery. The MiRider advert says "developed and assembled in the UK", while as the Onebot shows a picture of what looks...

Can I swap battery from my old bike into new bike (both are 36v lithium)?

It's just a case of improvising with whatever tools you can get hold of. If you're lucky, they might just pull out. I wasn't thinking before. With a suitable three legged puller, you only need to pull the stator up about 10mm to get access to the sensor and lever it out with a small...

    Bike Locks

All locks are vulnerable to certain attacks. The video a few posts above show a guy with 3ft or more bolt croppers cutting through a really cheap roller lock. Also, they're not the regular bolt croppers that normally have straight jaws. The ones he had won't work on hard chains. Have a look on...

Can I swap battery from my old bike into new bike (both are 36v lithium)?

First, you should try to hook the hall sensors out. In many cases, they come out easily, but in some motors they're glued in tight. If you can't get them out, you have to dismantle the rotor from the stator, which is tricky because they're held together by magnetism. First, you have to...
