    Riding in the rain

A cape is the best thing for riding an electric bike in the rain. Not only does it keep you dry, but it also keeps the rain off all your electrics. When you stop, you can use the cape as a bike cover. Win, win, win!

Cuts out under load, 52v battery shows 57v fully charged.

Your meter has a battery in it - normally a PP9 9v. That's what you should change, then do all your measurements again, not measure another battery. First you have to determine the facts by measurement, then we can think about the cause.

Help! Yosepower 350w kit - Fault Finding

It normally goes something like this. Owner doesn't put the motor connector in all the way to the line. During the ride, one of the pins in the connector breaks it's connection. That causes a burst of rough running and a rasping noise, which the owner notices, but doesn't do anything, unaware...

You have two blown mosfets. When you have two adjacent ones blown, it shorts the battery wires, since one is connected to the positive and the adjacent one the negative. Both are connected to a phase wire. You will need a new controller that you can get from Topbikekit. You seem to have missed...

Replace the gear cassette on an e-Bike?

That's the one that you start with when you adjust the derailleur alignment. The first step is to align top gear and set the end-stop, so it can't be an alignment issue. Have a look to make sure there's nothing stuck between those two gears, like a screw, magnet, twig or any other debris.

IMHO, those cell voltages are quite acceptable and not anything to worry about. Yes, it is a little out of balance, but I'd expect that on a battery with unbranded cells, where you're taking 5.6 amps per cell. Also, there’s somthing wrong with your measuring. Those cell voltages add up to around...

Rear hub motor recommendations for cycle courier bike

High reduction ratios allow high power from a small motor. The faster the internal motor spins, the more power you get. You have to put the power in to get it out, so you don't get something for nothing. Consider the high speed R/C motors that I use in model aircraft. They're tiny, like 48mm...

Can I swap battery from my old bike into new bike (both are 36v lithium)?

You have to remove the side cover. Rest it on a couple of blocks and tap the axle with a soft mallet or put a block of wood on it and hit it with any hammer. Make sure you pull the wire right down into it's groove so you can't hit it.

Looking for advice on a new controller

All modern decent controllers work the same: 3 motor phase wires 5 hall sensor wires plus one speed sensor wire 2 battery wires 3 throttle wires 3 PAS wires 5 LCD wires (unless it has LCD light connector) 2 wire brake connectors (sometimes additional 3 wire ones. You can always cut connectors...

    Riding in the rain

You'll be fine as long as you have the motor cable going down and you don't leave your bike out in the rain when not riding it. weak areas of any bike, including Raleigh Motus, is the LCD. It's always worth covering it with a plastic bag or similar in the rain. Also, some throttles are not very...

If you look, there are 18 cells all welded together, but 9 are one way up and 9 the other. Underneath, you will see that there is a divide between each group of 9 and each 9 are welded to another 9 next to them, so still 18 welded together but not the same 18 on the top. On one side at the ends...

The more amp-hours or watt-hours, the further you can go. There are loads of them on ebay. just check the size (cross-section). The length doesn't really matter unless you have the seat low. Cuts out under load, 52v battery shows 57v fully charged.

Each 3.7v cell group has 9 batteries in parallel. 14 of those make 51.8 volts Fully charged, each cell group would be 4.2v. a4 x 4.2 = 58.8v. Your 57v is a bit low.

It could be a shorted mosfet or two. You need a meter that beeps on continuity or some other way of testing continuity. 1. Test the middle leg of each of the 6 mosfets to the aluminium case. None should beep. 2. Test between the middle leg and the right leg of each mosfet. None should beep. 3...

Its a 9s14P battery, so you've only measured half of the cells. we need a listing to comment further. Can you disconnect one controller and try it with just one motor to see if it's too much current that's causing the cut-outs?
