    Help! Problem with Assist

It's simple. If the motor stops when the wheel stops, it's an electrical problem, and if the motor turns while the wheel is stopped, it's the internal gears or clutch. In rare circumstances, it can be the woodruff key between the clutch and motor shaft that snaps. If the seller genuinely didn't...

    Poor torque/ power uphill power

In many cases you can get a 20% to 30% increase in torque by adding some solser to the shunt in the controller. We need to know what battery, controller and motor you have to be more specific. Also, you can sometimes turn up the current in the LCD settings.

    Impressive battery developments (or not?)

I'm thinking back to all the similar articles on this forum over the last 10 years. I think I'm right in saying not a single one of the break-through technologies has found its way into our ebike batteries yet.

    Hello!

A rear hub-motor is normally best for commuting and general cycling on roads. A middle motor gets the advantage if you have very steep hills. A mid motor generally is less user-friendly, has higher running costs and is less dependable. A front motor can work, but will slip on steep hills, they...

Help! Best kit for hilly area for 16 stone and incredibly weak leg muscles

You can't run that motor at 20 amps and 48v. The gears aren't strong enough. It's not really a good motor for a weak heavy rider eiether. The larger AKM128SX would be better, either 48v 260 rpm or 36v 201 rpm run at 48v.

    Bike Locks

I use one similar to this. I carry it on my handlebars all the time. You need 1.2 meters length. https://www.amazon.co.uk/MasterLock-8115EURDPS-Armoured-Steel-Lock/dp/B0016M1Z6Y It's enough to resist the tools that the casual bike thieves carry, so OK for shopping, pubs, doctor, dentist...

Looking for advice on a new controller

OK, I thought it might be a Bafang controller to go with your motor, especially as it's 750w. I don't think I've ever seen a 750w Lishui controller. How many amps is on the label and where and how have you installed it?

    Vekkit

200w must be AKM75SX (Q75)or AKM85SX (Q85), and 250w would be AKM100SX (Q100). The Q75 is larger on one side than the other, so easy to differentiate, but it's difficult to tell whether you have a Q85 or Q100 from a photo - probably a Q100 if you have 100mm wide forks. Q85 used to be 85mm...

Looking for advice on a new controller

Why don't you unlimit the controller you already have?

    Vekkit

Can you show some photos, especially the motor from both sides, as their website shows at least two different motors, one of which looks like a Q85.

Next! Going from Giant Dirt-E to what? Struggling!

I think you're getting a bit mixed up. Let's do some physics. If your bike weighs under 15kg, you have the 8Ah 288wh battery. You come back with 3 bars on the meter so that would be about 120wh of use. 20 miles at an average 15.5 mph would take 1.3 hrs so to use 120wh from the battery. In...

    C300 controller and matching display

I would always recommend KT controllers with LCD3 display, which you can get from PSWPower or Topbikekit. Your present controller is 17A, so try and match it. The current isn't important, but, it's how much power you get when hill-climbing.

    Help! Problem with Assist

If you can hear the motor turning, but it's not driving the bike, either the clutch is faulty or you've stripped the internal gears. If you tell us the circumstances when the problem started, we should be able to say which of the two it is. In either case, you have to open the motor to see...

    Hi from Mark in Belgium

That's a good deal and I agree with you 100% if your alternative is to buy a typical £2000 modern crank-drive bike and get it dealer serviced. It wins even further if you were to decide to get rid of the bike after a relatively short time for whatever reason, where the depreciation cost would be...

Battery Cover for riding in Rain?

You'll be fine riding in the rain. Your body will keep a lot of rain off the battery because it sits in your rain shadow when you're moving. The thing that is most vulnerable is the control panel. My suggestion is to stuff a couple of freexzer bags up the ends of each handlebar and put a...

    Spokes

I've just done it. I got a nice tune on my 14g wheel. The 13g , let's put it this way, is not going to make no.1 in the charts, not even the grunge music charts.

    Which hydraulic brake sensors.

There are only two wires attached to that switch. You get error 25 when the switch is on at the time you switch on the controller. It's a safety measure. Normally the switch would be off when you switch on the controller with the brake in its home position holding the switch actuator down. To...
