    plugs

It is a motor phase /hall cable , it isn't a conventional push fit/block type as it is for higher power bikes with ring fixings for the phases to be screwed down.

    Carrera problem

Check the motor connector hasn't been disturbed. Disconnect any brake sensors to rule out a faulty one. If still no luck one will have to wire test the controller mosfets for resistance and check the motor Halls are good.

As I have said more then once the 8 motor wire are 3 phase and 5 motor halls. The bodged attempt of the added twin and earth type wire looks like some has either tried and failed to take a feed off the rear wheel or maybe tried to add a throttle direct to it, in both cases there effort would...

Freehub servicing on a Vulcan E

One needs a chain whip, a cassette tool with a 12mm central hole so the hub axle passes thru and a spanner. If the cassette tool doesn't have a big enough hole for the axle to pass thru and allow the castellation's of the lock ring tool to fit properly simply drill it out to 12/13mm. UK...

    plugs

Yep there are quite a few oddballs on there, and some pretty crap looking bikes as well for 40mph. I do wonder if the land for the so called free is because they have little between there ears in the way of any common.

In the most part all of the ES bike are mopeds, quite a lot are high wattage and upwards of 60v's. Mostly all twist and go and 40mph capable.

    Batteries

lipos are mainly the domain of the RC community so they fats charge them on site and a BMS adds unnecessary weight for them. Lipos were used by early ebike users as they were very cheap and one could cobble then together with knowledge of how to do so, but for the average user they just aren't...

Rear hub runs, but hard to spin manual/electric

Moisture has two possible routes to the inside of the hub. One is via the motor cable, if it is orientated in the D/O's incorrectly moisture can track down the cable and then inside. So the cable entry must always enter on the under side where it can form a drip loop also one can syringe some...

Converting a folding electric bike with a throttle

Never fit an ekit (esp a mid drive) to a Tern as the bikes just cannot take the stress and torque of an ekit, the hinge on the Tern is very weak and there have been many bikes where the welds simply give way. Tern stole the Dahon tech specs when the ex wife and a son of David Hon left the...

    Batteries

lipo's don't generically use a BMS unless the one add's one as I have done so to two 10s packs I made up. They all have a main discharge plug and a set of balance leads for a balance charger or to plug in to a parallel balance board. You have to clearly state what you are trying to achieve and...

    Batteries

My skyrc d100 comes with 2 x xt60 plug for the main discharge and 2 x small jst balance board for various balance wires up to 6s. I use it as I have a need to use 3s lipos for other 12v devices I use.

    Batteries

Unless one is using lipo chemistry one is better just using a generic 10-20 quid charger for lion cells. Pointless building batteries and a charger that will do up to 6s unless you have a need for it. With ebikes common voltages are 7s/24v, 10s/36v & 13s/48v so if building a battery opt for the...

Mid Motor Under BB Clearance - Trek Navigator

Although crude a BBS on your bike will likely fit something as I have marked, the guppy like added feature will prevent the unit from sitting higher up. As in WP's second pic the unit will sit lower below the BB, ok for nearly all riding bar rocky/undulating fast down hill terrain. One would...

    Batteries

You are best to use a BMS with top end balance then you don't need to use fancy balance chargers which there are a lot of clones that are a bit iffy at the best. Use a generic charger for the correct voltage and let the BMS do the work. So if you venture into large voltage series opt for the...

Mid Motor Under BB Clearance - Trek Navigator

The BBS has approx. 6.5mm clearance between the BB shell and BBS body once fitted and before securing, one can rotate the front of the BBS to fit snug/tight against the down tube. I use a bit of old inner tube between frame and BBS. The head of the cable tie fixing may cause an obstruction...

    New LCD

Try Oxygen themselves as sometimes the connector may be reversed and one may not find a generic one, also some of the oxygens have 18 settings so programming/software may be an issue.

Mid Motor Under BB Clearance - Trek Navigator

A BBS will fit but it will hang lower as it wont be able to sit forward tight up against the down tube because of the guppy like frame addition. The cable retaining clip will have to be removed and the cable should sit in the space between BB shell and BBS body. The main issue is ground...

Help! Just got my first ebike (ADO A20F)

Not quite correct... Countries can apply concessions within their laws but these aren't universal, the EU as a whole has banned them. The UK has/had some concessions regarding throttles to enable a bike still to be a pedelec/epac, on pre 2016 bikes they were and are still legal and now there is...

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

The Ulna break was a work accident in the building trade some 14 years or so ago, the break was misaligned and a bit more then about 50% but the doctors decided not to operate as the blood supply and nerves run through the area and they said infection was possibly another issue to contend with...

From home made to Factory Build

A diy bike if the right kits are used have many spares available to keep the bike working for years to come, one also can tailor the kit/bike to suit their own needs. A diy bike might not have the kudos of a branded one but you gain the knowledge of being able to quite easily repairing it your...
