    Controller phase wire issue

The story continues to develop. Maybe it's time to show us what you have. If it has the self-learning wires, I bet they're still connected, so it's trying to relearn every time you switch on. So this is the second time you've had problems with those bullet connectors! When I was at school...

Woosh Lost keys - what can be done?

When you have the keys, you can disassemble the locks, which are normally only held together with a circlip, then you can take out the tumblers and reassemble the lock. You can then open each lock with any key.

Would it be hard to ride my e-bike while wearing filtered earplugs? Is it legal?

I don't think we're divided. One person got a bit confused and was put straight.

    Oxygen E-Mate Drive Train Failure

The hall sensor connector has 5 wires. I can see it in the photo.

Juddering from bike and power cut

There's nothing to test if it's running properly. You can only find faults when it isn't.

    Oxygen E-Mate Drive Train Failure

I asked you to measure the voltage between red and black during running and cut-out,

Juddering from bike and power cut

They are the symptoms of a blown mosfet in the controller or faulty connection to the motor. The latter often causes the former.

    TongSheng TSDZ2 v Bafang BBS02 - advice/help please...

Amps an volts are what comes from the battery, not the power of the motor. The efficiency of the motor varies a lot depending on it's speed of rotation. You can take 70% as a rough approximation, so to calculate motor output power, you multiply amps x volts x 0.7.

    Controller phase wire issue

A run down battery wouldn't cause that issue. There's another problem that will probably raise its ugly head sooner or later unless you have a controller with automatic phase and hall configuration that got confused after you disconnected the wires.

    Oxygen E-Mate Drive Train Failure

You have to say whether it reaches the marked line. Pull it apart and make sure you understand where the line is. It runs in the direction of the circumference. The edge of the outer one has to reach it when pushed together.

    Oxygen E-Mate Drive Train Failure

That connector half-way along the chain-stay is probably not fully in. There's a line that shows how far it has to go. If it doesn't reach the line, you get the problem you described. The white wires control the speed limit. I can't remember which way round for sure, but I think it's connected...

    Controller phase wire issue

The heat comes from the connector itself. Many people have had this problem. If it were my bike, I'd cut those horrible bullet connectors off and solder the wires directly to each other, then cover with two layers of your heatshrink tube.

    Oxygen E-Mate Drive Train Failure

If everything is original, that must be a Mk2. I don't think I've seen one of those before. The Mk1 had a plastic battery and no control panel, and the Mk3 had an LCD and thin connectors for the throttle and brakes. Just to clarify, when looking at the control panel, all 4 battery segments are...

Would it be hard to ride my e-bike while wearing filtered earplugs? Is it legal?

ROSPA are doing a bit of scare-mongering, but what they say is sort of right. If someone were to have an accident of some sort due to their negligence in some respect - say they dropped their phone and was trying to retrieve it from under the seat while they were driving. When being questioned...

    Oxygen E-Mate Drive Train Failure

Can you show a picture of which one you have because there are several versions. Please show any control panel on the handlebars, and if you have the one-into-4 cable that branches in front of the steering head, please show one of the brake or throttle connectors. There is nothing wrong with...

Woosh Lost keys - what can be done?

It's not worth the cost of a locksmith, considering the cost of a new lock, which you can buy from Aliexpress or Ebay for about £5. If the battery is unlocked, you can simply unscrew the lock and take it out to replace it, If it's locked, drill it with a 5mm drill to let the tumblers out, then...

Does anyone think their e-bike is undergeared? Here’s how I fixed my Raleigh Motus Hub-gear.

That tensioner is a really good idea. It'll save loads of hassle. Another thing about how it was before is that after lots of chain adjustments the wheel nuts don't clamp so well, and if you use the highest torque from the motor, they can slip, which is a right pain. For a crank-motor, where...

    LED panel question - 880 vs 810 (4wire and 5 wire)

Without the blue wire connected, the panel can't work as a switch since the switch is between the red and the blue wires. If you only connect red and black, the control panel will switch on and off and work as a battery level display, but the controller will be on all the time, assuming that it...

    Help!! First ebike!!

It's simple. If you sample 20 bikes out of the entire population, and every one has problems, then one can make the very reasonable assumption that if you were to buy one of the non-sampled bikes, there's a fair chance that yours would develop faults too. Or to put it another way. Say they made...
