    Brexit, for once some facts.

Which is the core of my argument and why we've had so much better a rate since those early days of double the rest of the country. The lockdown began 16th March so large numbers of Londoners were off work and out of the tube and buses for two full months before the May figures. Ergo May was...

Same in London and Northern Surrey, very large numbers treating distancing very casually as they've done throughout, as I've been doing myself to a fair extent. .

As said, the factors aren't officially known, but I still believe the vulnerability argument is more valid. It certainly fits what's happened in London with taking a big hit at the outset and suffering far less since. You saw how some tried to argue against that long ago, but now months later...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It's meaningless. According to tonight's news, anyone dying within 28 days of a test is recorded as a Covid-19 death, regardless of the cause of death. And basing anything on a mention of Covid on a death certificate is silly. Doctors frequently cannot be certain of a cause of death, so in...

They have a cop out clause though, so we can't make too much of this. Totally unconnected with Brexit and affecting the whole EU, as part of a much wider free trade deal the Japanese government reached a deal with the EU in 2017 which reduces the tariff of Japanese cars to zero year by year...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't have those two risks you mentioned, few youngsters these days have any interest in their natural world so I don't meet them in the countryside. And when I call at my huge edge of town Sainsburys this evening after 8pm, there won't be any mums with kids in sight and it will be almost...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Agreed, but I'm not worried about this pandemic, since I'm much more likely to die of something else before Covid-19 gets me, just look at the odds: I already have heart disease and have suffered a heart attack 13 years ago. I've suffered numerous tachycardial heart attacks since. I have all...

No, few do many of these any more, too busy staring at their smartphone screens. Anyway they aren't diseases. There's probably just as many old 'uns doing parachute jumps or hang gliding for the experience before they die. .

I have bought a panasonic mid motor nua034ce with control switch and need a wiring diagram to link up to motor plug

Panasonic have never issued any wiring diagrams or other technical information on them. They are only repair by replacement. The motors and handlebar control units are prewired with matching connectors, so if either of your's isn't, someone has been doing something drastic to them. I don't...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That's the trouble today, not enough optimism so people get the wrong end of the stick. Take the myth that old peple are more at risk then the young from Covid-19, it's just not true. At my 84 years I'm far more at risk of dying of any of the other possible disease causes than young people, so...

That's good, it means the percentage of Covid 19 I haven't caught and may be immune to has risen. I can relax even more now. ;) .

ebike motor kit for a wooden bike

There was one legal exception, I forget the brand now but it was a small wheeled e-bike. The pedals operated a generator and that supplied a rear hub motor. No mechanical link but legal because the pedals still propelled the bike which is all the law requires. .

All concerned have said how sorry they are. This is becoming such a habit that I think everything this government says should have a pre-attached apology for anything that's wrong with what they are saying and their sorrow for any upset caused. .

Britain's First 'Dutch-Style' Roundabout Closed 10 Days After Opening When Car Ploughed Into Beacon

I totally agree and think the situation totally unfair, especially where motor vehicles hog pavements which we suffer from here. But as I've repeatedly said, majorities count, especially where they are overwhelming as the motor traffic interests are. And it's not just about cars. The roads...

So the well over 90% who use or benefit from cars and all other motor vehicles will continue to get the available space and the small percentage on bikes will continue to get not enough. I first heard that mantra 70 years ago and it's still not true. Western government plans include us...

Where I disagree as you know from a previous reply, is that you are discounting all the alternatives. For example, two of the makers of e-cars today, Mercedes-Smart and Ford were originally using sodium-salt batteries, only dropping them when lithium showed more advantages. They and others...

Britain's First 'Dutch-Style' Roundabout Closed 10 Days After Opening When Car Ploughed Into Beacon

Much of my cynicism stems from my long history and resulting first hand experience of how we got where we are. Back inthe 1940s and early 1950s, we and the Dutch were in the same place. We had hardly any cars and fewer motorcycles since most had been requisitioned during the war. Also public...

Yes I'm well aware of that, but mostly not transferable to our existing city road networks. Once again I remind you of the much smaller amount of car traffic there and often much more space to work with, making it much easier for them. They don't have the experience of our situation, nor...

:D. Iknew this post would make me wildly popular, sure enough two dislikes in an instant! It's what comes of being realistic. I wonder if the dislikers can tell me how to provide the huge space needed for cyclists to be physically segregated without paralysing lots of roads, or stealing...

Britain's First 'Dutch-Style' Roundabout Closed 10 Days After Opening When Car Ploughed Into Beacon

Which is arguably as it should be for the following reasons; First the only reason we have the vast roads network with made up surfaces, mostly quite good, is due the the huge number of motor vehicles. Without them we cyclists would have nothing like that provision. Before motor vehicles a...
