    E-Scooter

Bear in mind that if and when permitted it will only be on the roads. So it could come unstuck on sharp edged speed bumps. .

Not so, in my post you disagreed with I explained why London has such improving figures, and they'll continue to improve. And for more evidence, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales who've been taking a much stronger enforcement line than England are now performing worse than us. .

But among large cities London, having been by far the worst, has recently had falling numbers and is outperforming the West Midlands and Manchester. Showing once again that things are far from being as obvious as some seem to think. .

    Rohloff or not to Rohloff.

We have several members with Rohloff hubs and all swear by them, not contemplating any other gears. Here's some of their posts: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/spare-battery-high-capacity-or-dual-battery-bike.36761/post-542313...

No disagreement, we Londoners aren't so mad as to stroll in Oxford Street these days. It's decades since I last did in the mid 1960's, that's what visitors and tourists do, poor souls. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think not. Over a week ago the Met Office wer forecasting the current downturn in the weather, so the timing of this latest government loosening of the lockdown didn't surprise me. A case of letting the weather do the policing for them. And it looks like my forecast back on April 25th that...

And that photo is totally inapproriate anyway since there's nothing in it not now allowed. .

Birmingham to trial e-scooters in revolutionary UK scheme

But, and there are very big buts. Those European cities have European roads, cycling and pedestrian facilities, already a huge volume of bicycles in use and drivers who are well used to all the cycling and drive accordingly. Our laws alone not allowing scooters on pavements will mean them...

    Rohloff or not to Rohloff.

The Rohloff is the one exception among hub gears, almost indestructible and far less trouble over time than any other gear setup, with or without a mid motor. Very expensive, but that pays back handsomely over time so best for reliable commuting. Is it perfect? No, nothing is and there are...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think there's huge amount of exaggeration about every aspect of Covid-19, both the likelyhood of catching it, the effects and the after effects. I'm equally sure that social distancing has very little efficacy for strangers among the general public in day to day activities like walking and...

Phase one is already in operation in London. If you saw Andrew Marr's program on TV this morning or if you view it again, you'll see Londoners in Hackney currently engaging in such sports, including close contact football. .

Basically it's no change, apart from the uses of: "as much as possible" "if you can" "where possible" and "limiting" in place of "you must". Or put another way, carry on doing your own thing but this time we won't fine you. .

I'm quite sure they'll be restricted to stand-ons, no hobby horses allowed. I can see this becoming a backtracking law, rather like the Dutch permission for S-pedelecs and mopeds that soon saw lots of added restrictions. .

There's a couple of American suppliers of these who've been pressuring for them to be legalised, as they are in some EU countries. And of course our government is keen to keep the Americans onside to get a good trade agreement to replace some of the EU trade we are going to lose. .

They are just the beefed up kids things. I think the government are mad to consider them being on the roads with motor traffic, they obviously can't allow them on pavements. .

E-cars don't need a boost, they've been selling as fast as they are made. The UK’s electric vehicle market performed superbly compared to the rest of the market, against a backdrop of falling overall sales hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak. In the first full month of lock-down, pure-EVs were...

Until the death rate becomes apparent. On the roads they'll become the victims, if the government changes its mind and lets them use the pavements (very unlikely), it'll be the pedestrians who'll be the victims. .

Not this time. As at least three of us have posted, it was made very clear at the time of the closure notice that all restaurants and cafes could operate as takeaways only, whether they were that already or not. There was no attempt to be underhand about it, nor was there any restriction...

Agreed. Of course McDonalds are franchises so it's difficult to know if their outlet closures were individual decisions or corporate. The latter's decision might be legally questionable by franchises. .
