I build my wheels while sitting in bed watching TV. I've never used a truing stand. For truing, I put the wheel in the forks and use a zip-tie as a pointer.

Get a conventional one. The 10 magnets or fewer seem to be most compatible. 12 magnets often have compatibility issues. There are always problems when fitting pedal sensors whichever type you get. Removing a crank takes 30 seconds. I used a Q85 on a Brompton

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The petition has over 20,000 signatures now. Why are you afraid to answer my question?

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Those guys are all multi-millionaires now. The first time I met them was as the Kent Custom Show, which was about 100 bikers in a field. It cost £1 to get in. Their bikes were pretty similar to what's shown in the film. The last time I went to that show was in the late '80s at the County Show...

    Wisper 805fe battery

That old controller will be really bad compared with modern ones and 24v bikes are nearly always crap. If it needs a new battery, get a 36v one and a modern controller to transform it into a nice bike. In the meantime, I'd put the 36v battery on to see if it works. If the controller smokes, you...

    Hello! (need your help)

It's probably a nice bike when it's working. When anything goes wrong with the electrics, you'll be beholden to your Giant electric bike dealer. Personally, If I was going to get a bike like that, I'd get a bike with Bosch or Shimano system because there are more chances to get it fixed and more...

    Thumb throttle installation help

You won't smoke your motor by connecting the hall sensors wrong. I've never heard of anybody doing that. It is theoretically possible if you're really stupid, which I guess some guys are. Just use small amounts of throttle until the motor runs smoothly. In other words, if the motor is...

https://leonard.io/edd/ When they say flange dia, they mean the pitch circle diameter of the spoke holes, which you get from the motor drawing or by measuring it on the motor. Rim ERD should be shown in the rim listing. I used a one-cross pattern.

Bosch Motor shutdown, Error 503, get you home only.

That's all true. A hub-motor is most efficient at a certain wheel speed, and a crank motor that is most efficient at a certain crank speed. It's all very well picking out particular characteristics and discussing theory, but the real world brings in all sorts of other factors. The only true way...

    freewheel

The two dimples are to dismantle the freewheel, not to remove it, unless someone has fitted an old freewheel that has the castellated slots for the two-dogged removal tool. To remove a normal freewheel, you need the normal splined tool, but you need one with a large hole all the way through it...

Bosch Motor shutdown, Error 503, get you home only.

What you're saying is that in some circumstances, your motor is more efficient than at other times. You didn't actually measure its efficiency. You have to consider that your bike goes through a range of conditions during a typical ride. Do you know at what RPM, your motor develops maximum...

Sturmey-Archer 3 speed Hub gears for crank drive Bafang

I think derailleur gears are the much better solution. You have to stop pedalling to shift an SA three-speed. That's not going to work well considering the motors run-on. A gear shift sensor would be essential.

Use a spoke length calculator to get the length based on the motor dimensions and rim EDR. I used normal 14g spokes, which I cut down from longer ones I had hanging around, and I threaded them with a threading tool I bought from EBay. The length is shorter than what most spoke suppliers can...

    Thumb throttle installation help

Don't take any notice of watts on any controller or motor. It's completely meaningless. That controller has 15 amps written on it, which is what counts. That is probably the same as your present one.

Hub motor swap from Bafang to MXUS

If a wire comes adrift, the motor can't turn, but you get maximum power down the remaining complete phase. You must never give full power to an electric motor when it isn't running properly. I've seen photos of the aftermath, though I can't remember a single incidence on this forum in the ten...

    Advice on Adjusting Tesco Hopper

I'd buy some riser bars, which you can get from Ebay. It looks like you can go up about three inches before you start to run out of cable. If you search, you can get all sorts of heights. here's an example...
