    9 speed

Yes 7 spd, unless you want to add washers to spread the drop out width and then have to dish the wheel because it isn't centred correctly. Cheap bikes and kits come with freewheels , that's why the cassette is king you can change from 7 - 10 spd with the same stack height just use a narrower...

Wheels. Rims and spokes to be precise.

A mid drive bike only knackers the drive gear faster so wheel spec has little or no impact on the strength. Even with my hub builds I use the same rims the bikes come with or use generic cheap hubs of about £10- £15 each. Unless you are doing silly jumping or very fast ultra downhill stuff then...

    9 speed

Freewheels have a stack height of about 41mm for 9spd and about 37mm for 7 speed, so one will need to stretch the drops out width a little and as vfr has said the wider gears will offset the wheel centre more it will require 2 mm of dishing or so. The Gant previously in it's former life may...

Not a great start with e-bikes. Chain continually jumps off the front sprocket.

For correct chain length remove it from the derailleur and simply place it on the largest toothed gear front and rear, the chain ends should overlap by 2 links for Shimano gearing and 1 link for Sram gearing.

Help! Disaster, Hub motor failed, discontinued!

If the motor connector click doesn't rectify the noise, then check the phase wire bullets (if used ) at the controller end. During a ride check to see how warm they become once the noise starts.

Help! Disaster, Hub motor failed, discontinued!

Yes if the connector goes together with a final click that wasn't noticed before may well be where the bad electrical contact comes from, it resonates and can appear to be coming via the hub. For the hub bearings one should be able to hear grating or feel the roughness by manually turning the...

Help! Disaster, Hub motor failed, discontinued!

Are you any good at diy bike maintenance ? The hub looks pretty simple and any replacement of bearings pretty much straight forward. The face plate is held on by screw that is half the battle taking the lid off easily.

    Cube Aero pro pedelec

Cells will likely be either knackered, unbalanced or below 3,0v - 3.1v so BMS won't allow charging.

Check each chain link for any damage twisting or a pin that may have come out of link plate.

"...container loads of bikes were selling out within days..."

In a few years there will be glut of used cheap bikes flooding the market, once the cycling novelty where's thin.

Wheels. Rims and spokes to be precise.

Ebikes using stronger spoke is wrong, esp hub motor wheels. Spoke break easier. With mid drive one needs nothing more then that which is supplied, for my hub motor wheel builds I use ordinary rims of about £10 - £15 and 14g spokes any thicker and they break more often because they aren't...

    Help! charging problem

In that case then one suspects lvc was cutting in and the system thought 48v was the supply, once voltage hit 40v or so it simply stopped.

    Help! charging problem

Battery voltage is good . Does the lcd have settings to change voltage reading i.e., 36 or 48v ? Its appears that the correct voltgae isn't being read/displayed correctly so a setting or faulty controller. Are you able to identify the V+/V- on the lce connector from the controller and take a...

Hello from an e-bike newbie - Freego Eagle

It's quite dear for a controller kit though i tis hassle free and the seller has to make money. The controller is Lishui, there is nothing special in the kit. For about £70 one can get the same stuff in KT set up.
