Hub Geared Electric Bikes - What Has Happened To Them?

That's a lot of miles, Kirstin. Just as a matter of interest, do you know how many chains, sprockets, etc you got through doing those miles? It would be interesting to get some actual facts from an unbiased source.

Looking for a bit of advice

I was just looking at QVC and I see that they have the Cyclotricity Stealth stepthrough for £600.

    Took the plunge

Most of these 250w motors have no power identification on them. Without any markings on the motor, it's virtually impossible to prove whether it is or isn't a 250w one. If you put a Q128 (800w) next to a MXUS XF07 (250w), I bet even a knowledgable ebike enthusiast couldn't tell which is which...

Lightweight mid-drive kit for short commute

The 15 .kg probably doesn’t include the pedal arms, which are square taper. There aren't many light square taper pedal arms compared with Hollowtech type. I would have thought that the first thing aybody would do if they wanted a light ebike is to look at the crankset, seat, seatpost, tyres and...

Looking for a bit of advice

E-life bikes are still thriving. I see them on the TV selling channels. They look good value, and the TV channels let you send them back if you don't like them. It looks like E-bikesdirect get their returns...

    It's bloody new and broken!

Like Juicy, Wisper and Woosh, Oxygen customer service has always been everything you could wish for and more. It makes my heart bleed when I hear stories about how some other brands treat their customers.

Kalkhoff Groove G7 Display replacement, ideas please

You can get the KT controller, LCD, PAS, speed sensor and throttle as a complete kit from here. You probably won't need the speed sensor, but best to get it just in case: http://www.pswpower.com/ven.php?cargo.2016-3f-3f7c The only problem you might have is pulling all the cables through. On...

    Took the plunge

You can't exceed the nominal power of a motor because the nominal power doesn't change, no matter what you do to the motor. You can only install a motor with the wrong nominal power.

That ma That makes the whole thing non-nonsensical. Those dealers, including Halfords, would already be dealing with Raleigh bikes, so why would they buy from those dimwits? I think this is the folding bike they had. £2500 is a ridiculous price for it. No wonder they sold so many at £1100...

    LCD S866 + Brainpower controller

Before you order anything, check whether it works when you pedal backwards. If so, flip the magnet disc.

Kalkhoff Groove G7 Display replacement, ideas please

The C950 LCD was used on some of the first BBS01 kits, and I heard of a guy that updated his with a C961. It's probable, therefore, that all the Bafang LCDs are compatible. The C961 costs around £60 from Amazon. I think that if it were my bike, I'd chuck the entire control system and use a KT...

    battery

You need to measure the voltage on the battery terminals immediately after unplugging the charger, then again if or when it cuts out.

    Hello e-bikers

I just fixed one of those for someone after he ran over the handlebars with his motorhome. It too had very weird steering until I discovered that the tyres didn't have enough pressure in them.

The whole thing was fiction. There's no way those traders would have paid £1300 for those bikes. That's very close to the retail price.

    Yosepower hub kits.

It makes no practical difference whether you put them on the inside or outside. You can put them where you want to suit the spacing and wheel alignment as long as nothing rubs on the frame/forks or disc caliper. The only important thing is that they must be fitted unless you have an alternative...

    Which Conversion

You need to determine whether you have a free-wheel or free-hub rear gear set. here the free-hub is on the left. you can recognise it by its characteristic retaining collar on top of the smallest cog. Another way is to count the teeth on top gear. A free-hub would normally habe 11 or 12 and a...

    Yosepower hub kits.

What are those parts? I've never seen anything like that before. They can't be anti-rotation washers because there's no flats for the axle.

    It's bloody new and broken!

That's right, either the battery has something wrong with it or there is something wrong with the rest of the system. It's important that you test to see which it is by charging the battery and leaving it off the bike the same amount of time to see if the voltage drops. The battery can be...
