    It's bloody new and broken!

You have a battery charge-state indicator on the LCD. After a few rides, you'll see how it behaves in relation to how much further you can go. As a guide-line, when it shows half-way down, you're actually 2/3 down because the battery goes down quicker as it becomes empty. It's a bit like water...

    It's bloody new and broken!

The battery should be close to 42v when fully charged. If it isn't, something is wrong. It should still work at anything above 34V.

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

He can say that he was dazed and didn't know what he was doing.. The court would have to decide if that's a valid excuse. Some people get away with murder with worse excuses than that. What about the USA policewoman that went into the flat above and shot the guy in there, saying she thought he...

    Which Mid drive

You get more range from the TSDZ2 because it makes you pedal harder, so the motor does less. You can get full power out of the Bafang without pedalling at all - if you want. Both motors are equally efficient. Of course, you only get the range out of the TsDZ2 if your legs don't get tired.

Probike Mercury (with lead acid battery and twist grip throttle)

Thanks for letting us know the results. Don't forget that the increased current runs down the battery quicker. If you find that you don't have enough range, you can take your lead batteries out of the case and wire in a cell-pack from Ebay or Aliexpress. 24V ones aren't very dear, but you want...

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

It says in that video that he was cleared of manslaughter and not charged with dangerous driving. Instead, he was charged with furious cycling, which means he was dealt with as a cyclist, not a motor vehicle. I guess that the court decided that his bike complied with pedelec law.

    48V 2P BATTERY- any good

If you ask Jimmy (www.ebikebatteries.co.uk), he can make you up a battery that will fit in a toolbag under the saddle. He made one for a friend of mine that used it with a BBSHD on a Marin. He provided the bag too IIRC. I think that Enerpower battery would be OK. It should easily manage 9...

    Commuter bike build advice

500w is the rating of the kit, not how much power it gives. Some 250w motors give substantially more than some 500w motors. How much power your motor actually gives you depends on its efficiency and how much the controller feeds into it. Its efficiency is very dependent on the speed its...

Buying first Mid drive Kit Help

That battery looks a bit weak to me - only 20 amps continuous. a standard BBS02 is 18 amps, so that doesn't leave you any headroom. You need one rated at at least 25 amps. eclipse have some very nice batteries. they cost more because they can do what's required for a BBS02. How much do you weigh?

Buying first Mid drive Kit Help

Your hub-motor can probably give you a lot more power without stressing it. If You go up to 48v from 36v, you get 33% more torque, power and speed. Another thing you can do is increase the current. At 36v, you can go as high as 22 amps, which will give you a nearly 50% increase in torque...

Before ordering, make sure that you have the sensor on the chainstay and the magnet on the wheel. some models have the speed sensor on the hub now, in which case Badass isn't going to fit .

New ebike battery technology coming soon?

I think that's the commentator getting mixed up and not understanding the terms. Jackson didn't say that himself. He probably said that the aluminium cell has a greater specific charge density than lithium. Also, what he's saying is that his battery is small and light. To get the same amount of...

    Greenedge CS2 Power Issue

Some of those batteries are not very waterproof. the water goes in through those windows where the led lights shine through. They're just plastic pieces sitting in the aluminium with no seal. When your battery is completely dry, try sticking some clear tape over that area to seal them. It might...

Yes. You can download google maps of your area before you start. There's a time limit on them now, IIRC. That's so that you always have the latest maps. You might have to reload every month or something like that. It only takes a few secs.

    Greenedge CS2 Power Issue

The battery in the meter needs replacing. get a new battery, then measure again. It's normal to see some voltage on the terminals when the battery is switched off. It's only leakage charge. If you connect anything to it, the voltage will collapse to zero because no current can flow when...

    Help! Cheap eBay batteries?

According to their size, they must be 4S3P configuration. That means that 3 or them would make 12S4P configuration, which is 44v, not 36v. Therefore, you need a motor controller that is able to be configured for 37v low voltage cut-off. A 36v controller will have it at 31V, which is too low for...

E-bike Error 10 on the screen

Motors with controllers in them, like this, are just bad news. You should avoid them at all costs. I doubt that there is any shop that can fix it. I've never seen spares for one of them. You can't do any tests on it without disaasembling it. If you're not capable of disassembling it youself, I...
