Hub motors for thru axle frame?

There's this one, which is a bit expensive. I've never seen it in the flesh, so I can't say anything about it. There must be a discussion on ES somewhere. https://www.ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/motors/grin-all-axle-hub-build.html

Beat Bike Toba Crossbar (Bike Log)

You'd be better discussing it with Bearing Man. When I repaired one, I replaced the whole motor with one from Germany. That was very easy. They gave instructions on where to send it. the replacement came after about a week. I bolted it in and it worked straight away. No setup was necessary...

    Battery care and safety

If you sent in a battery for service because it was cutting out and they soldered the pairs of terminals, that's entirely reasonable and sensible, but you only get the benefit if they paired them up on the receiver side as well. Did you send in the receiver with the battery or just the battery?

    Spare spokes

Spokes didn't really change. There's nothing complicated about it. You take your broken spoke out, measure it and buy one the same from one of the many ebay sellers or from your favourite spoke supplier. There are two thicknesses used for most electric bikes 2.0mm (14 gauge) and 2.3mm (13...

Cyclotricity 250w front hub kit: KT LED890 issues

I can't read your PDF, but there are normally two parameters that affect the speed readout - wheel diameter and number of magnets (pulses per revolution) in the sensor. If your speed reads 50%, halve the number of pulses.

Beat Bike Toba Crossbar (Bike Log)

It's very easy to take the motor out. From memory, you remove the cranks, take a few scews out of the side-covers, then three bolts through the engine, and unclip a couple of connectors. You then get your motor repaired by Bearing man (peter@performancelinebearings.com ). PS. sorry to hear about...

How not to behave as a cyclist..

Oh dear! I could sort of understand it if it was the pedestrian jumping the light and the cyclist was put in real danger to cause red mist, but it makes absolutely no sense to do that when you're completely in the wrong yourself. I hope they find him. A good place to search for an arrogant...

Help! Bought “New” Bike Which Arrived Damaged

Thanks for clarifying. I think that brings us to three possibilities; 1. You live outside the UK so they tried to pull a fast one to get rid of their ex-demo bike. 2. They made a genuine mistake and got their bikes mixed up. Not likely, but maybe someone ordered the ex-demo and is now looking at...

Help! Bought “New” Bike Which Arrived Damaged

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Sorry for being a bit thick. In your previous post, it looked like you were trying to discourage him from informing Trading Standards. Now you're saying that they will help him. Can you please clarify.

    Help! Dc/Dc converter

I think it might have been a good idea to check that before commenting. The resistor might be able to, but the LED can't handle voltage spikes that the resistor won't protect it from.

Help! Bought “New” Bike Which Arrived Damaged

I think it would be pretty significant if you ordered a new bike and when it arrived, it clearly wasn't. In spite of that, we're missing key facts, like how much OP paid for said bike. I suspect that there's a lot more to this than meets the eye. Maybe he clicked the wrong one in the listings...

VLCD5 display - night ride, with lights, without backlit display ?

Another good source for cheap reasonable electric bikes is Idealworld. You need to keep watching their website because different models come and go, then you wait for them to feature it on the TV as a 24 hour special offer, where they knock the price down or give you accessories in a package...

    Identification of hub motor

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time. It's the sort of thing that if you already had a controller and battery and you know about phase and hall sequences, it might be worth testing to see if it works and how well it works. There are too many possibilities that can make it into a cash sink and...

    Help! Dc/Dc converter

That's extremely inefficient. If it's a 6v bulb, you'd waste 5 times as much electricity as you use, and if its a 2v one, you'd waste 17 times as much as you use. It's much better to use a buck converter. There are loads of cheap lights on Ebay, Amazon and everywhere else that have buck...

Help! Bought “New” Bike Which Arrived Damaged

Did you get a big discount on the bike? Is that why you want to keep it? If it has 100 miles on the clock, it's an ex-demo bike or a previous customer return. The only way to get it like that is to ride it 100 miles. I don't think that you've told us the whole story.
