GTECH E-Scent MTB - Motor Issues

TS controller are rare/thin on the ground, I have only seen a couple of after market ones. One is a KT TSO6S model which I have only seen with an electric kit, never seen a TSO6S sold on it's own and the other a Bafang TS controller which likely needs pairing with a Bafang TS BB. They are...

GTECH E-Scent MTB - Motor Issues

The TS programming might just be set for low cadence/gentile riding and not roughty tuffty style like there road style bikes.

Bosch Battery Service Centre Recommendations - mail order?

Bosch dealers won't touch it if it doesn't swithch on, and no use them sending it back to Bosch because they will simply recycle it and want you to buy a new one. You have to either open it your self to see if a fuse is blown or see if Jimmy can look at it. There is a chance it is not fuse...

    Mid motor vs Hub motor.

You would probably need to investigate whether a Cycleanalyst or Phaserunner run in conjunction would work but the cost of either is just not worth it, ES is the place to ask .

GTECH E-Scent MTB - Motor Issues

How the TS system works is purely down to the programming/software. All my hub bikes use simple cadence rotation and once above the cut off of any speed the bike is easily rideable above it esp in benign conditions. Why GTECH went with the TS hub controller who knows as nearly most hub bikes...

GTECH E-Scent MTB - Motor Issues

Yes a low gear is crucial as motor stalling may be evident in to high a gear, hence the motor hesitating. For inclines motor rpm used is important, ideally needs to be a low wound high torque hub.

Bosch Battery Service Centre Recommendations - mail order?

No use going to Woosh they don't sell the China made Bosch drive. Bosch are ok as long as you are in warranty which is 2 years, once warranty runs out you are left with expensive repair or buy another bike.

GTECH E-Scent MTB - Motor Issues

Ah a TS BB, on hubs they aren't very desirable. Might be a programming issue then or a sensitive TS when pressure is applied, tbh they are a PITA.

To see /tell if your controller is a speed controller try each PAS level and see if each level has a different set max speed.

Wheel builder in Birmingham/Black Country area

D8veh/Vfr but he hasn't posted since he and another regular contributor had a little disagreement which was many months ago. Depending on which hub motor who ever does it, a 1 x pattern will be best for spoke/nipple entry angle. I don't understand why LBS can't do them because bikes now use...

Code 16's are like hens teeth for non OEM buyers, I have a code 13 bpm. 16 is awesome a 160rpm load speed hub, Woosh should consider selling them only as well for kit users to fit.

GTECH E-Scent MTB - Motor Issues

From the sounds of it the bike (GTECH) might be utilising a speed controller and what you feel is normal, ie: once the assist max speed level is reached the power /watts backs right off and the drag you feel is actually the heavy hub being cycled with no power. A speed controller gives max...

    Cube Kathmandu Hybrid Pro 500

Yep roads are very quiet at the mo and very noticeable during my p.m driving shifts as a key worker, though it appears not only loonie ebikers are releasing the speed of their vehicle of choice. The open quiet roads also bringing out the Mansell's of this world.

    Chunky tyred commuter advice

Look at 700c CX style flat bar bike with tyres up to 42mm, which is what I use all the time on touring day out rides for off road. If a hub bike then you need a high torque winding with low rpm.

    Mid motor vs Hub motor.

For me TS is not an option, I have tried one on a 10 mile ride with Kalkhoff Speed BS10. The continuous effort needed wasn't for me and ride feel wasn't for me. With the cadence hub I can toot along at 16/17 mph quite nicely and if I want more speed 18 -24mph I work for it more. With hubs is...

I climbed DB with my Bafang CST 290rpm with a 36t rear low gear on the steepest sections ( at about 5.2mph) and it certainly whacked me a bit for breath, any lower gearing and I would have been off pushing as the speed would have been to low for me. DB has a few seemingly flatter sections but...

The 201rpm BPM front hub I have is quite immense in power esp up hill in PAS 5, bike gearing though is still critical to prevent motor stall/heating. The penalty though for the hub is 4.4kg of mass at the front end, it will be interesting to see how the 1.7kg G370 front hub performs when it...

I have asthma and very rarely use the throttle I am able to exhale up to about 440 l/min, someone worse might struggle to exhale even 300 l/min so a throttle might well be indispensable. An unaffected rider will easily exhale 600 l/min or more.
