Hub or Mid Drive? Any views?

The ebay cheapie 500w hub will have been a D/D hub and no comparison to geared hub. Geared hubs are capable for off roading though not so much for technical rides or rough down hilling as spoke damage is more likely. I have used my hub bikes many times on the N & S Downs without issues and on...

    Help! Error codes Bafang DPC18

Cable damage is too near the entry for a successful repair in my view, the cable will need replacing completely so means opening the hub. Temp sensor maybe related if the damage has caused over current from the battery. Send pics to the vendor and open a dispute with the card company, if you...

    Going faster?

I rode to Dorking from my house 18 miles then on to NDW to Newlands corner and then the Downs Link all the way to the beach at the other end, then back home again. All in all about 160km, I was done in on an unassisted 20 spd gravel bike. Never again not even 10 miles.

    Shimano steps w013 error message

Have a look at my answer in #2. If the issue arose after the process and whilst/during riding then it would be prudent to visit your dealer for a check.

    Hi everyone!

Not a bad weight at 16kg and like the fancy blue wall tyres in the stock pic I viewed, a nice looking bike. A make not many on here will have heard of as looks like they are Canadian.

Help! Intermittent fault on battery - causing loss of power

From what we can see of the Red protection (Fire retard) card on the cells tops /bottom, we or I can pretty safely say it looks as if all welds are good. A tell tale sign of a bad weld is discolouration/scorching blotches. Though won't rule out a bad cell, the serial busses might be interesting...

    Help! PAS does not work

Mag disc may still be orientated wrong so flipping it won't hurt to try. I have had one of those cheapy thin ones where the magnets are set in an almost blind hole barring a pin prick of a hole on the rear.

Help! Intermittent fault on battery - causing loss of power

The balance voltages with the battery being part discharged isn't too shabby, though doesn't rule out the possibility of a bad cell or two in the P groups. Not teaching how to suck eggs, I see you using a screw driver to lift the wire. I never use any metallic objects other then necessary and...

Have I got too many spacers in?

Good job Michael you got there in the end, as soon as you said in #29 about using different make shifter and derailleur it soon became obvious.

    LCD S866 + Brainpower controller

You have to tell us which hub you are currently using as the P7 looks like it is the gear ratio x internal magnets count. If it is set wrong then PAS will not function correctly or the motor simply will not reach a desired speed. I once swapped a Bafang hub for an Aikema hub and forgot to...

    LCD S866 + Brainpower controller

The PAS isn't a speed sensor but simply a pedal sensor. For a speed sensor a lot of hubs have an internal sensor, yours doesn't as the White hall wire isn't used. You need an external wheel sensor with a spoke magnet. The White hall wire then joins to the sensor signal wire then you can join the...

Fork dropout width for ebike motor

Most as VFR has said are 12mm x 10mm, 10mm is the important figure and the axle needs to be a tight fit in the drop outs. 12mm is the axle depth so the drop out seat may need careful filing 1.5mm - 2.5mm deeper, though your friend needs the hub first before carrying out any work. The filing...

Some amount of ebikes here, not an ad, have nothing to do with the company.

The main issue I had was checking out so gave up.

    Hi. First ebike conversion.

There are too many variables to be precise so at 10wh/m approx. 40/41m for the 29e one and 50/51 for the GA one, both are 10s4p.

Help! Winter is eating my bike alive.

My main use bike is a700c Norco (7 years old now) and used nearly daily paid £360 new for it and have added various kits to it. Base bike was quite cheap but components and build/design is good/solid, no major rusting issues. I don't clean it much and the grime helps to protect it.
