I understand what you mean now, that's different from the method I mentioned in which the disc rotates. The rotating element that signals in yours may be inside the bottom bracket and perhaps isn't close enough to the disc to signal. I'm afraid that as I don't know these units and their...

I'm not familiar with the Bafang BBS units, assuming it's that, but the common pedelec arrangement on the crank is a plastic disc with a ring of tiny magnets inserted in it. Adjacent is a Hall sensor like a tiny transistor which is cable connected to the controller and that picks up the passing...

Make sure the crank magnet disc is running very close to the pickup sensor. Too far apart and it won't sense and pulse signals to the controller. If that's not the answer check the cable connections from that crank Hall sensor to the controller. .

    Huge increase in UK e-bikes

I'm not surprised, the same became apparent in the main EU cycling countries as e-bike sales expanded. Dealers were soon reporting that most of their income was from e-bikes despite many more sales of unpowered bikes, due mainly to e-bike much higher prices and margins. Also as much as a third...

An electric bike easily modified by entering a code

Sensible choice of bike, but be careful about waiting in case prices go the other way, which is far more likely. The EU has applied anti-dumping tariffs on all e-bikes etc sourced from China, meaning at least 10% increases for most. Woosh are starting assembly here to try to avoid the...

    Cycling hostility and decline

There's no doubt that the second hand bike market has incredible bargains, for two reasons: First the fact that new bikes are available from £49.95 and e-bikes at times from £299 tends to severely limit second hand prices. Second that we are not in the hand-me-down age of yesteryear, second...

    Cycling hostility and decline

Yes, but I refuse to be intimidated or feel guilty. In my car I'm perfectly happy to crawl along behind a cyclist for as long as it takes, and I also hang back some way so the cyclist doesn't feel harassed by my presence. It's even better now I have an electric car since I switch off the low...

    Cycling hostility and decline

That's a widespread problem. Trouble is that cutting such major roots can kill trees, provoking local protest. We've had these battles in my area. .

    Frustrating 15.5 limit

Actually the Devon and Cornwall police do use Segways illegally every year. And a number of police forces used illegal e-bikes between 2003 and 2015. Trouble is, who is going to stop and charge them? .

    Cycling hostility and decline

This is my equivalent nearby. We've got a couple of hundred metres! Further back it fizzles out into a path too narrow to walk a bike along, just wide enough to ride through, except it's too ridiculously steep to cycle. .

    Cycling hostility and decline

I can understand why you post that but it's very far from the truth, I'm very much the opposite. I've just demonstrated that to a local organisation, the council and a water company who'd all given up on something due to predicted high costs. I refused to accept that and solved the problem to...

    Cycling hostility and decline

Agreed, and why I gave an agree to your earlier post, the exceptionally fine weather will have been a great influence. As said, statements need to be clarified. A very large reduction in sales undoubtedly means a decline in those taking up cycling, whilst those who bought bikes last year but...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Suspicious story on both sides. Our government claimed they travelled on false names but insisted they had firm evidence that they were FSB agents. If they didn't know their identity they couldn't have known what they did for a living. And if they really were FSB, they surely wouldn't have...

    Huge increase in UK e-bikes

Yes, but the grant wasn't immediately available originally so the £6500 less is correct when comparing start to finish. Once it was introduced at £5000 that made the difference £1500, but there was no charging point subsidy so that lifted both by £500, to £7000 and £2000 respectively. Even at...
